Escape Lyrics
Time to escape
The clutches of a name
No this is not a game
It's just a little beginning
I don't believe in fate
But the bottom line
It's time to pay
You know you've got it coming
This is war!
The clutches of a name
No this is not a game
It's just a little beginning
But the bottom line
It's time to pay
You know you've got it coming

This song sets to tone/mood for the rest of the album which has a theme for battling against society and its ways and earth battling against its inhabitants.
What a beginning of the album! Feels like a war cry before major slaughter on the battlefield. Like a leader raising the morale of his army with the words.
Also, some of the lyrics are wrong. "It's just a little beginning" should be "It's just a NEW beginning"
This is seriously Jared's message to his "fans". Could this be anymore obvious? When NWO comes we will be forced to live under the religion of the Antichrist. "You know got it coming"..The bible prophesied it but since no one reads the bible the world is completely blind of the UNITED NATIONS intention. Only God can save us.
Singer/guitarist Jared Leto told Musicradar.com about the song: "This was very interesting for me as a writer in that I sat down with a very pointed and decisive intention. Usually songwriting can be very obtuse and roundabout way of getting in touch with your feelings. With this one, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and I knew it was going to be the album opener. The song is about freedom. It's about beginning a battle and deciding that you've had enough and you're willing to go to war to fight for what you believe in."
This is the lyrics to Closer to the Edge. What the hell is going on here?
