No matter how many times that you told me you wanted to leave
No matter how many breaths that you took
You still couldn't breathe
No matter how many nights did you lie
Wide awake to the sound of the poison rain
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?

(Hesitates go by
The night’s on fire)

Tell me, would you kill
To save a life?
Tell me, would you kill
To prove you're right?
Crash, crash
Burn
Let it all burn
This hurricane’s chasing us all underground

No matter how many deaths I die, I will never forget
No matter how many lies I live, I will never regret
There is a fire inside of this heart
A riot about to explode into flames
Where is your God?
Where is your God?
Where is your God?

Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead?
Or alive to torture for my sins?

Do you really want?
Do you really want me?
Do you really want me dead?
Or alive to live the lie?

Tell me, would you kill
To save a life?
Tell me, would you kill
To prove you're right?
Crash, crash
Burn
Let it all burn
This hurricane’s chasing us all underground

The promises we made were not enough
(Never play this game again)
The prayers that we had prayed were like a drug
(Never gonna help me here)
The secrets that we sold were never known
(Never sing a song a second time)
The love we had
The love we had
We had to let it go
(Never giving in again, never giving in again)

Tell me, would you kill
To save a life?
Tell me, would you kill
To prove you're right?
Crash, crash
Burn
Let it all burn
This hurricane’s chasing us all underground

Oh, oh, woah
This hurricane
Oh, oh, woah
This hurricane
Oh, oh, woah
This hurricane
Oh, oh, woah

Do you really want?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Do you really want me?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Do you really want me dead?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Or alive to torture for my sins?

Do you really want?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Do you really want me?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Do you really want me dead?
(Oh, oh, woah)
Or alive to live the lie?

so what do you think it means. Sound like a guy is thiking of suicide. It also sounds a little anti-god. Like this part.

"Tell me would you kill to save a life Tell me would you kill to prove your right" - jesus

Do you really want me? Do you really want me dead or alive to torture for my sins? " " Where is your God?"

I think the songs is about guy who a bunch of bad things (aka the hurricane) had made him doupt God and want to kill himself. Kinda negative, and weard for Kanye. Or mabye not so weard for Kanye.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
