16th & Valencia, Roxy Music Lyrics

I don't know where to go
Cause I know where to go
Well I know where not to go
Cause I'm nowhere to go

Cause tonight, we're gonna find our lover
Tonight, we're gonna find our man

Riding six white horses
Wearing a press blue jeans
Gonna behead the king
And give the queen everything

Cause tonight, we're gonna find our lover
Tonight, we're gonna find our man

We're gonna find our

We don't know where to go (We know where to go)
We don't know what to do (we know what to do)
We don't know where to go (We know where to go)
We don't know anymore

I know I look high
But i'm just free dancing
I know I look hypnotized
But I'm just table-tapping

Cause tonight, we ain't gonna find our lovers
Tonight, we ain't gonna find our man

We don't know where to go (We know where to go)
????????
We don't know what to do (We know what to do)
????????
We don't know where to go (We know where to go)

After living in sf for 3 years, mister Banhart and I know exactly where to go for some action. At the Dirty D bars, Delirium and Dalva at 16th and valencia , "riding 6 white horses" (hipsters on there DIY bikes) . A few other bands such as third eye blind talk about this area, but Banhart nails the contemporary mind set of these 20 somethings having nothing to do, but hang out at a sweaty dive bar looking for love, but never really finding any kind of real love here.

I think the missing lyrics are:

"We don't know where to go (We know where to go) Like some Eskimos We don't know what to do (We know what to do) I've seen Katmandu We don't know where to go (We know where to go)"

It may not be "Like some Eskimos," but I'm pretty sure I heard "Eskimos." Same with the "Katmandu" line.

Dunno if it has much to do with the meaning behind it but I'm surprised no one has mentioned Roxy Music.... Love is the drug. ! :)
