My interpretation of the song is that it's about that period in life where your sure or unsure of what you wanna be but the problem is your stuck in a rut whether it be a motivation problem or lack of opportunity to get your foot in the door of what you wanna be.
This means you are life's in limbo and you stop dreaming about what is possible barely able to make it through what "is". When you are in a rut it seems that you will never break free. Recognize that this is simply a phase you are going through, a period that you can change. So go on pick youself up, take the pressure off and change will come faster.
