Still Breathing Lyrics
Don't need an aspirin after you
Until you left I never knew
What my heart was really going through
And I never want to go back
But if there's some sick twist of fate
I would rather rest in peace, please do not resuscitate
I'm still breathing
Don't you think I'm not, because you're leaving
Never gonna see me grieving
I'm moving up and away
Not crying, funny I'm not even trying
Never gonna lay down
I'm breathing much better, the air is much clearer over you
Suffocating and I didn't know why
Until I realized you were standing in the way of my air supply
Cleared the air, was about to die
I wondered why I didn't leave you way before
So I thought I was insane
But it was you who kept the oxygen
From getting to my brain
I'm still breathing
Don't you think I'm not, because you're leaving
Never gonna see me grieving
I'm moving up and away
Not crying, funny I'm not even trying
Never gonna lay down
I'm breathing much better, the air is much clearer over you
Over you
Over you
Over your head, out of your view
I'm breathing so much better
Now that I'm away from you
I'm still breathing
Don't you think I'm not, because you're leaving
Never gonna see me grieving
I'm moving up and away
Not crying, funny I'm not even trying
Never gonna lay down
I'm breathing much better, the air is much clearer over you
Until you left I never knew
What my heart was really going through
And I never want to go back
But if there's some sick twist of fate
I would rather rest in peace, please do not resuscitate
Don't you think I'm not, because you're leaving

I'm moving up and away
Not crying, funny I'm not even trying

I adore this song. Allison has such a mature voice, and she's so strong. It's about moving on and not letting stupid things get to you. People expect you be broken into a million pieces after a break up, but Allison is saying "Why should I be? I don't NEED him."
I agree with MomoTheStrange. The guy did her wrong and broke her heart. Allison wants to show the guy that she doesn't need him. She's basically stating that she can still breath and survive without him. That's he's no longer her everything. At first she didn't realize that she was letting herself go through such suffering but when she did in fact realize what was happening she stopped. She let him know, point blank, that she doesn't need him and things are better without him.
i agree with momothestrange and ohsnapsitsallie some guy did her wrong and he thinks if he leaves she'll be begging him to stay but instead she's waiting for him to leave i love the line "i'm still breathing don't you think i'm not because you're leaving" and "i'm breathing so much better now that i'm away from you"
