escaping the tangle Lyrics

human consciousness is at the same time
as being a thorn of awareness, sensitivity and understanding
it's all seven compliments
the ordinary everyday consciousness that we have leaves out more than it takes in
and because of this it leaves out things that are terribly important
it leaves out things that would be indefinitely
and they are anxiety's interiors department
and if we could extend our awareness you see
to include those things that we leave out
we would have a deep interior peace
because we would all know one thing mustn't be
you can't hang onto yourself
you don't have to try not to hang onto yourself
it can't be done
that is salvation

Cover art for escaping the tangle lyrics by Colorpulse

For anyone interested (if anyone ever makes it over this way) This song is comprised (I think) of two lectures (or seminars? what is the difference?) given by Alan Watts, a British philosopher.

The first (and largely most of the song) is titled "The Web of Life" -- transcribed mostly accurately here: http://opticalgoo.blogspot.com/2010/12/no-dont-give-me-that-i-dont-want-to.html

and can be listened to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElKv6TTqpSo

The second portion(starting at 'you can't hang onto yourself) is titled "The World as Emptiness" -- transcribed here:http://deoxy.org/w_world.htm

and can be listened to here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpzNTi3iwEI
