Q&A

Trouble Lyrics

I didn't know what everybody was talking about
Oh no
So I went down to the water
Tried to figure it out
Oh no
Everybody was looking down at the empty ground
Except you baby
And you turned to me with a strange look in your eye
And whispered in my ear

You said oh, oooh, everybody's got a trouble
You said oh, oooh, everybody's got a trouble
Just like me

There I met a man scorched by the sun
He had a ring above his head
And with eyes of chrome
And a voice of steel
He drew his breath, and he said
Oh, oooh, everybody's got a trouble
He said
Oh, oooh, everybody's got a trouble
Just like me
Just like me

He said I should just go home
Oh, he said I should just go home

Oooohhh

Everybody's got a trouble
He said oh, oooh, everybody's got a trouble
It's what he said
Everybody's got a trouble
Just like me
Just like me
Just like me
Just like me

He said I should just go home
He said I should just go home
He said I should just go home

Oh he said, he said, he said

Yeah, he said I should just go home
Oh he said I should just go home
Oh and he said I should just go home

diffidently about religion about some people understanding it and others not. About being saved... John the Baptist.

Cover art for Trouble lyrics by Civil Twilight

It’s about a man who is confused by what he sees in people. Their happiness, their contentment with life. He isn’t quite sure what he’s doing wrong because he doesn’t seem to see life the way others do. Stuck in misery. He doesn’t understand how people can be so seemingly happy. So he goes down to the water to try and figure it out and this beautiful girl comes up to him and whispers in his ear, “Oh, everybody’s got a trouble.” And he realizes that these people have their own insecurities and personal battles. Just like he does. He also meets an angel who says the same thing. And the angel also tells him that “He should just go on.”

In the end, I think it’s just a dream but it helps him come to terms with his life. He sees the world differently and understands everything more. Everyone is fighting their own demons, no matter how well they hide it. Even the sunburnt angel has been through tough times as well as the beautiful girl. That’s what life is. You just gotta keep going on.

He finally understands why people act the way they do. An unspoken knowledge that we are not alone in our battles.
