Parking Lot Lyrics
Did you see who just pushed that shopping cart?
It kinda looked like it moved all by itself
I think I just saw someone pull in; thought you should know
Maybe we should go
Who's that, who's that blowing up your cell phone?
Do you want me to take you home?
Who's that, who's that blowing up your cell phone?
Do you want me to take you home?
(Tell me that there's no place that you'd rather be)
You and me in the back of a parking lot
With a couple of drinks to keep our bodies hot
Dance, dance with me, me
Under the street, street lights
Street, street lights
Baby, come on
You and me in the back of a parking lot
With a couple of drinks to keep our bodies hot
Dance, dance with me, me
Under the street, street lights
Street, street lights
Baby, come on
(Baby, come on)
Who's that, who's that walking in the shadows?
Do you want me to take you home?
Who's that, who's that looking through the windows?
Do you want me to take you home?
You and me in the back of a parking lot
With a couple of drinks to keep our bodies hot
Dance, dance with me, me
Under the street, street lights
Street, street lights
Baby, come on
You and me in the back of a parking lot
With a couple of drinks to keep our bodies hot
Dance, dance with me, me
Under the street, street lights
Street, street lights
Baby, come on
(Baby, come on)
You and me in the back of a parking lot
With a couple of drinks to keep our bodies hot
Dance, dance with me, me
Under the street, street lights

This is my favorite GLAC song so far. It's just fun and a bit dirty, and very playful.
It sounds like someone has a girlfriend/boyfriend or an ex (Who's that, who's that blowing up your cell phone?) and getting drunk and having sex with someone else. (Dancing being a metaphor for sex.)
Or, I suppose, for someone younger, it could be someone's parents trying to figure out where they are, they keep calling, the cops are looking around for people having sex in a parking lot....
The first day that it was released that Ben had started his new band I rushed over to their site and listened to every song. This one ended up being my favorite. It is just so happy, and seems rather carefree. I understand that I'm probably seeing this wrong, and differently than everyone else though. The lines "Did you see who just pushed that shopping cart? It kinda looked like it moved all by itself I think I just saw someone pull in; thought you should know Maybe we should go" seem to convey a sort of just teenage fun, where you are just hanging around in the parking lot, pushing carts around and trying to avoid getting thrown out by the mall cops. Later it talks about blowing up your cellphone, which again, just just stupid teenage antics, in my opinion.
Next, the chorus, to me, is just what is says, and I take it for face value: a couple of teenagers drinking and making out in some empty parking lot, and dancing around.
Well, even if you guys see this song much differently, the upbeat sound makes everyone want to go and dance under the street lights themselves!
