Give Me Strength Lyrics
I choked back tears today
Because I can't begin to say
How much you shaped this boy
These last ten years or more
My friends we've seen it all
Triumphs to drunken falls
And our bones are broken still
But our hearts are joined until
Time slips its tired hand
Into our tired hands
We've years to that day
And so much more to say
You give the strength to me
A strength I never had
I was a mess you see
I'd lost the plot so bad
You drag me up and out
Of the darkest place
There's not a single doubt
When I can your faces
My friends weve seen it all
When it made no sense at all
You dare to light my path
And found the beauty in the aftermath
Let me hold you up
Like you held me up
It's too long to never say this
You must know I always thought
You give the strength to me
A strength I never had
I was a mess you see
I'd lost the plot so bad
You drag me up and out
Of the darkest place
There's not a single doubt
When I can your faces
You give the strength to me
A strength I never had
I was a mess you see
I'd lost the plot so bad
You drag me up and out
Of the darkest place
There's not a single doubt
When I can your faces
Because I can't begin to say

! feel like this is a man talking about the emotions he feels on his wedding day. he's up at the altar waiting for his bride and these are the thoughts going through his head. and once his bride meets him at the altar these are his vows to her.
this is what we all want to find... someone who will always bring strength and light into our lives! i love this band and how they make such powerful and meaningful love songs <33

I see this song as relating to my own personal experience.
" You give me the strength you see, a strength I never had, I was a mess you see" My family, friends and deputy head all tried to keep me strong through the difficult times. But the one person who helped me was my deputy head so I can interpret this line about her.
", you dragged me up and out, out of the darkest place," When I was in a bad place or couldn't get out of the darkness she always used to get me out of this place I'm in and help and support me.
Basically my interpretation of the song is that it is about those who have helped you through tough times and gave you the strength to carry on
@dionnemcf there are random fleeting moments in life that to everyone else are insignificant but they stay with us \r\n\r\nAnd there are people like your deputy head that made such a significant impact on your life and they don’t even realise how much so, its not often in life they cross our path. I’m glad this gives you that memory about someone so special to you

great new song on the 'best of' album, epitomises all the things we have admired about snow patrol over the last 15 years
I do see where you're coming from 'oceanmeetsky.' However when i attended their concert in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Gary Lightbody explained that this song summed up the "last 10 years or more" with his band members, as a sort of tribute to the good times they have had together.
My friends weve seen it all When it made no sense at all You dare to light my path And found the beauty in the aftermath -- shows how much they mean to each other
But as with all Snow Patrol songs, if you interpret this song different, make it your own and not what others say, as songs such as this are designed to be personal to each individual
I was at the concert in Ward Park last year, but I'm unsure whether they played this or not. I thought perhaps it was about Gary Lightbody's parents at first, because he thanked them at the concert. I think the mention of "faces", as opposed to "face" definitely gives the impression it's a song of thanks rather than love.

just a beautiful song about how anyone who's been through wonderful and horrendous times with their loved ones, and saying how much those people they've shared those times with means to them. one of my favourites
Badass, this is a song about getting strength from friends that stay by your side.
as another person but suggested his wedding day-I can totally understand your reasoning and I never considered it that way!, thank you!\n\nMines a similar thought process but completely different at the same time , a fella on one of life’s big milestone days… going through big emotions mentally (flashes of random memories) and verbally (some of those memories written) \nBut I hear and see someone standing up in front of a church full of people reading a eulogy for someone who meant the absolute world to him, who had his utmost respect and had a profound impact on his life and it’s like he’s reassuring them that he won’t go back to that dark place even though they’re not there, they can rest easy knowing that he’s gonna be okay because they showed him that he can be.\n\nIt sounds depressing written down but I don’t get that feeling, it feels like a very special person being acknowledged with great respect and deep love
