Mescaline Lyrics

mescaline
in the sun
you try so hard to find someone
i used to be a hero
blood on my saddle
fighting every battle
i used to be alone

you shoot up
then you go to class
its funny how nobody asks
cause all your teachers love you
everybody loves you
everybody loves you
the same way that i do

what a wonderful world that we live in

your a lone disaster
your heart beats faster
when its with mine
your a likely story
morning glory
on the vine

there are holy ghosts
pushing past the tide
they let me know every time you cry
your burning in some backseat
burning in some room
burning is the one thing that you should know how to do
but i cant put out a fire when it looks like you
you didn't do the same when i asked you to.

what a wonderful world that we live in

your a lone disaster
your heart beats faster
when its with mine
your a likely story
morning glory
on the vine
mescaline.

Cover art for Mescaline lyrics by Robert Francis

He's singing about a girl he loved when he was very young. The name "Mescaline" is kind of a metaphor, addictive and lovely all at once. She was his first love and many songs of Robert Francis are about her, she's staying in his heart forever.

one question.. In which way do you interpret these lines ? "your a likely story morning glory on the vine" ??

I think what he means is the nostalgia he feels when he look back at these days. Like a story he tells his best friend when he asks the singer about his first love. But today he don't really know if his memories really happened or if his mind just added things whose could have happened. But the feeling he remember the feelings he had with her.

Mescaline is a psychedelic hallucinogen. I believe the song is about a perfect girl who is addicted to drugs. (You shoot up) but the people who should notice don't or ignore it. He was in love with her but ultimately was unable to save her. Thus the lyric about being a lone hero.

@BlackBard or it is a song about his own love affair with mescaline, and how everyone loves it.
