Katie is Andrew's sister. She was his bone marrow transplant donor. This song has so much emotion, I want to cry when I hear it. It's with my favourite AM songs.

watching him play this song, with a knit hat pulled down over his face, the skinniest boy i've ever seen, but yet his voice is still full and beautiful makes me understand what loving your family is really all about. you need to see dear jack if you havent already.
I watched Dear Jack a few days ago and couldn't stop crying... kind of went back and forth from happy to sad. I was so moved by the way he was able to belt out There, There Katie when he recorded it before his transplant. I agree that it's a must see - whether you are a JM fan or not.

I watch Dear Jack every month or so, just to keep myself down to earth, when I first saw him sitting at that piano, he literally looked like a living skeleton, but his voice was as strong as always. He is in my opinion on of the strongest, most caring, and inspiration people of our day and age. And I am proud to say I had the opportunity to hear him play this live. <3 AM. JM. SoCo

I can't believe there is finally a studio version of this song. It is absolutely stunning and so full of meaning. Truely beautiful.
