Monsters Lyrics

The situation's all critical
You've got to look first before you go
If you wasn't too sure then now you know
The situation is all critical

Wait, okay, you've got to look before you go
Wait, okay, you've got to look before you go
Deep into the darkness where I hide

The monsters all buried down deep inside
You never know when they're satisfied
Buried down deep where the sun don't shine
The monsters are buried down deep inside

Wait, okay, you've got to look before you go
You're wasting away, okay, you've got to look before you go
Deep into the darkness where I hide
Deep into the darkness where I hide

Wait, okay, you've got to look before you go
Oh wait, okay, you've got to look before you go
You're wasting away, okay, you've got to look before you go
Deep into the darkness where I hide
Deep into the darkness where I hide
Deep into the darkness

it's telling me that I'd better watch my decisions/actions because their outcome may wake up that 'monster' burried deep inside of me...and...if i really look at my record...i should realize this fact by now.

My Interpretation

ok ok first why hasn't anyone commented on this?

from the first couple of times hearing this and reading the lyrics

to me & I'm probably rong but I feel it's talking about a monster (maybe a vampire) is telling this person to know what they're getting into before they go into the woods (or this dangerous situation)

first i heard this was on the new moon soundtrack yeah yeah i know

but i really liked it and an ex could be edward being so hesitant to turn bella because she doesn't understand first how he feels about her being human and second not wanting her to become a "monster"

that's just my view

I could be wrong

spelling mistakes *wrong and ex is ex. like example

sorry i typed in a rush (idk why)

Couldn't give a toss about how it relates to any movie, but I love the melody, the pitch and the voice on this song. Love it, to bits.

This song can apply to a man or woman.

It basically describes the story of a person who has something dark in their past that has affected their psychological outlook on life and their self identity. Whatever the “dark” something was that occurred, they no longer view themselves as a regular member of society who can easily blend and interact with others. They are now a monster. A creature to be shunned, feared, and watched out for.

They are constantly at war with the monster that they feel they have as their true persona. They want to forget and be normal, but they can't because whatever event that occurred has permanently changed their life. They have managed to subdue the monster and portray a bland façade of life that they are okay and not on the verge of a breakdown.

Recently the person/monster has been approached by a regular person of society. They are afraid of letting this person get close because then their true identity would be unleashed and the person could get hurt.

ACTUAL EXAMPLES: ~a daughter addicted to drugs who doesn’t want to drag their concerned mother into the chaos and ruin their family ~a man who used to be promiscuous, caught an STD, and then changed his life who doesn’t want to infect his fiancé that he loves

Song Meaning

This song is about having suppressed feelings and a "monster inside". Its about having skeletons in your closet that are buried down so deep that no one knows they are there. It has nothing to do with Twilight and the Bella/Edward fiasco.
