he is saying don't worry don't get mad, it is their job when the say these things because everyone has jealousy, the blood is jealousy and rage on their teeth and they have things like death and other bad things on their mind like threats that are caused by jealousy. Last couple lines are self explanatory

They all have selfish desires like diamonds and girls, guy and dogs........these selfish desires cause rage anger and jealousy and cause them to say/do hings they don't mean. They want lieing and cheating to happen to break them up. If you can dominate your emotions you can find loyalty and as long as he loves her she is safe.

It's like Julian does not try at All to form the most goosebump filled songs. These are just thoughts that casually flow through his mind like a stream of consciousness and he gives us the privelege of not just hearing these Words, but hearing every intangible note of music that is so natural like breathing. Poetry is apart of his very heartbeat.

Could be about believing the conspiracy theories of 9/11.

I've been a fan of the Strokes and Julian since they first surfaced and I absolutely love this song. I believe that all of Julian's lyrics have a free form and spontaneous aspect to them that is beyond interpretation. That being said I believe that in general this song is about living life in the lime light, behind "bullet proof glass." On the one hand he is safe, pampered, and protected by it. On the other hand he laments about the eyes that follow him and the inability to maintain privacy in his transparent cage.

It's definitely about Juliet. Well it's FOR Juliet. He wrote it for her on her birthday once and when he was making the album she told him to use it. He talks about it in his most recent interview in Agrentina right after their show at Planeta Terra.

This is song makes me cry. It's so perfect.

I think it has to do with his wife Juliet, how he wants to protect her from not only the outside world but from himself as well, his drinking and drug problem, he wants her to feel safe. He's asking her to be good to him and stand by him no matter what others say because he'll be good to her.

That's just my interpretation. Best song of his, this will be one of my favourite songs of all time until the day that I die <3
