Temporary Home Lyrics

A little boy, six years old
A little too used to being alone
Another new mom and dad
Another school, another house that will never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face

This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is my temporary home

Young mom, on her own
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go
She's looking for a job, looking for a way out
'Cause a halfway house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
"Someday we'll find our place here in this world"

This is our temporary home, it's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is our temporary home

Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers
"Don't cry for me, I'll see you all someday"
He looks up and says
"I can see God's face"

This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This was just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This was my temporary home

This is our temporary home

This is another sad but beautiful song. It's about how these people are experiencing bad times in their lives but one day they'll be free from that. It's about how earth is just a temporary home, and heaven is our real home.

This song means a lot to me. I always think that I can be more than what I am now, I can go anywhere in this world, go to better places and expand my potential. I want to be the best, I want to fly and be the top of the rest. And when things get really bad, I listen to this song, and I realize this place is just my temporary home, and someday I'll find my place in this world...

I really like this song. I've been through so much the past year and this song reminds me that everything I went through, was all part of finding who I am and where I will go.

I think this is a great song and Carrie Underwood has an amazing voice and from my cousin first introduced me to her I have become a fan.

In my opinion I think it is great that she is taking three serious but different people that are facing something big in their life and they know that something better will come because it is just temporary what they are going through.

For me - my opinion....

The first part of the song is about a little boy in foster care that has been moved through the system and has no joy in finding a family home to stay and call his own. He has to move and get use to another family, attend a new school closer to that new home and get use to another home. He has learnt this is all part of the system and so he knows it will not be forever. Someday he will find that home and family he is looking for either long term fostering or adoption or he will make it on his own when he is old enough.

The second part is a young mum with a baby on her own life is hard she has no one else around to help her out she feels alone and looks at her baby knowing that some day life will get better and she will do her best to provide for her child and make sure that history does not repeat with someone she carried and loves more than anything in this world. She knows this is temporary and has a plan to make it better.

The last part of the song about the man in the hospital dying not wanting his family to cry over him because this life is temporary there is no such this as forever on this earth. He knows it is his time and he wants his family to be strong. He sees the light and knows his life is only ending on this earth but he is going home to God where forever does exist.

Great song.

when I watch the video, tears start rolling down my face when Carrie walks in the hospital to see that old man in bed.

That part always hits me the most... When I went back home to visit my grandma a year before she actually past away, we were having a goodbye party for my mom and I, we were leaving that night. My grandma had parkinsons and alzeihmers, when it was time to say goodbye to my family, I went to say goodbye to my grandma and there she was, lying in bed, fast asleep. I wanted to say goodbye to her, but I didnt want to wake her up. I gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek and said, 'Bye, Na, I love you' I never knew that those would be the last words I'd say to her, but they were.....she past away a year right after we left.

Because Carrie is a known Christian, I feel like this song is about how every situation, every place, every person, and everything here on Earth is simply temporary.

This song shows from the worst situations to the best, don't worry about what you go through on Earth because this is not where you are going to be staying forever. Earth is only temporary, your eternal home is Heaven.

I absolutely love this song. One of my faves on her new CD.

My Interpretation

Earth is just our temporary home. Were all an alien here.HEAVEN is our real home. It's where we all belong.:>But still as we find our own way to our destination we've got to face the hardship well encounter along the way.Be strong. At the end of the road you'll find the comfort and true love.:)

--I guess that's what the song wants us understand.:)This is an actually awesome and great song.:D.One of the best.:)

I love this song...It's just amazing the whole way through. The best part for me personally is the third verse about the old man...it's obvious what it's about....how this earth is not our home for eternity. kinda reminds me of that song Wayfaring Stranger! Also is a reminder...Where will you spend eternity?
