Due to Ryan's break up with Keltie Colleen, and the mention of the circumstances of said break up on her blog, vaguely suggests that this song is, in fact, a third-person commentary about his alleged infidelities. This includes some possible guilt, especially in the line, "...he will die and go to Hell".
this song is pretty straightforeward, its almost sad when you look at ryans' past songs and how much meaning was behind them. basically he (ryan or jon; i would assume ryan) likes a girl but the girl is technically not single, even though her 'boyfriend' is cheating on her and everyone, even she, knows he is, yet she keeps staying with her bad bf anyway, which confounds ryan and he cant understand why the girl doesnt just break up with her bad boyfriend and date him instead

as to what its about, obviously himself cheating on keltie. it seems kind of like ryan wrote this for her not trying to apologize but just trying to say that he was wrong and its not good to cheat on people. also, it is very typical Beatles by mentioning a "other girl" type relationship.

I think it's about a guy (Ryan) really liking a girl (Z) who already has a boyfriend.
He knows the boyfriend is cheating but she doesn't know: "You're not what he's thinking of/ When he's with the other girl"

I see it as the guy telling the girl, but she doesn't believe it and he doesn't push the subject, or the guy not telling the girl because he knows it would hurt her. "You, you were right/ I was wrong/ Like I always am and you always are"
