i need an ambulance.
i took, i took the worst of the blow.
send me a redeemer.
let me know if i'm gonna be alright.
am i gonna be alright?
'cause i know how it usually goes.
i know how it usually goes.
i built a monument
for the love we used to know.
but that is far removed,
and you say that i'm gonna be okay.
and yeah, i'm gonna be okay.
but it doesn't seem that way.
no love, not today.
'cause i was told to get out
told to leave
told i have my things in the parking lot.
no no no no no no no no no, baby
yeah, just send me that ambulance
oh, just send me that ambulance.
oh woah, ohohoh, no oh x2
thought you were made for me
and we shared our history
and in time you'll tear your eyes far away.
like a rubbernecker's gaze
is it really safe to say
that we're just made that way,
made to brave the pain?
'cause i was told to get out
told to leave
told i have my things in the parking lot.
no no no no no no no no no, baby

I read in an interview that Stacy wrote this about Sherri's divorce, which is so touching to me. They're so close that they can feel each other's pain.
Oh my goodness. I knew instantly it was about her divorce, but the fact that Stacey wrote it makes it that much more special to listen to.

When asked about songs on the album, Stacy shared her feelings on the song "Ambulance", "I wrote it after a difficult time that I went through with my family. I sort of wrote a song from her perspective and it is on our last EP Fire Kite and will be on the new record. It's really cool because it's actually getting played in this indie film Hidden that's about raising awareness of teenage homelessness in Canada. That song for me is really close to me and it's the most honest thing that I've written."
the line you don't understand is "like a rubbernecker's gaze"
i looked up "rubbernecker" and it means a person who cranes, stains or otherwise awkwardly turns their head and stares while passing the scene of something interesting. so when it says "you'll tear your eyes far away like a rubbernecker's gaze" it's saying it's hard to look away i guess. does that make sense?

ahhh okay. i was hearing rubber necklace case but i knew that was insane. thanks :P
This song is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait for their full album to drop
This is maybe the most beautiful song ever.
I'm pretty sure this song is about Sherri's divorce.
Perhaps one of the most stunning songs I've ever heard. Perfect timing to find this song.
I'm sure that Eisley wrote this song with a specific meaning, but to me this song is a broken heart speaking out to who broke them or to the people trying to fix it. They need help to heal, but they can't be expected to be over it in no time at all. They need someone to come in and be their redeemer and fix them in a way that will leave the smallest of scars. Love is not perfect and it hurts, but we can be saved...
"I need an ambulance. I took the worst of the blow. Send me a redeemer."
this song is so powerful and moving to me. i think it's amazing that stacy wrote it through sherri's perspective and that they're so close. it's really inspiring<3 stacy's voice is amazing, i'm in love :p
This song is about that really horrible, crushing feeling you get when someone you never thought was going to leave you ends up dumping you. You actually feel briefly paralyzed by emotion, which is what I believe the lyrics are hinting at-- the feeling of being so heartbroken your heart literally aches in your chest, like some sort of sick heart attack. The singer knows that she's actually going to be okay eventually, but for right now, it seems so horrific that she's removed herself from her own mind.
The lyrics go on to describe a typical breakup (having to move out and pick up your things from the parking lot, still feeling attached to the other person but knowing that in time they'll stop looking at you with adoration), but also have an existential hint to them-- "is it really safe to say that we were made this way, made to brave the pain?". The singer is questioning whether human beings were meant to endure these kinds of emotions, or if they were meant to love each other at all. Even though the phrase "like a rubbernecker's gaze" is meant to be used as a simile, I feel as though it's also a literal statement about how when people break up, everyone seems to stop and stare at the spectacle.
The song is really powerful and in my honest opinion, accurately describes the feeling of losing someone who's given up on your relationship.
I think it's: "and in time you'll TURN your eyes far away."
This is maybe the most beautiful song ever.
