EOL Lyrics

A building fell on me
Crushed my will
And took my brother ooh

How could I have known
The windows would be closed
There was nowhere to leave
There was nowhere to go

The endlessness of lines
Drawn across time
Wrapped my finger to you
But you've gone beyond ooh ooh

I went back to look for you
Sifting through the living room
The living room
Fell into a hopeless nest

Misery tattooed, you
Back in, back in
You're never coming back
No matter what

The endlessness of lines
Broken like twine
Drawn across time
In a pointless line

A building fell on me
Crushed my will
And took by brother
Away from me ooh ooh

I know this song is prob not to be taken literally and prob has some metaphoic meaning....but, I thought of two brothers in the midst of a tornado trapped inside a house and the one brother doesnt make it out. Its just funny because this song sounds so upbeat but has the saddest lyrics. I feel like the "lines" part of the song is talking about how two brothers and connected by destiny but now the line is broken because the one brother has "gone beyond". I am also surprised nobody has commented on this song. Such a good song and a good band!

I meant to say "are" connected by destiny. sorry. ;)

From a wishful-thinking type perspective, I would like to think that this is Nick Thorburn, who I assume wrote the song, feeling sentimental about his former partner in music, Alden Penner, the guy with whom Nick created the band "The Unicorns." Somehow, I doubt this hypothesis is true, but I figured it would be an interesting thing to propose. I have no idea what happened between the two, but it mustn't have been good if they each have their own separate musical pursuits now and refuse to work with each other. A shame, I guess you could call it.
