A.E.O.N. Lyrics

I am the hollow face who controls vile delusion
and bends the souls of men
A kind and gentle voice to lure the Great Unwashed
All hail the age of sin

Like every traitor and willing pawns, I believe in my own lies
My exhortations, the words I preach are but systematic shifts

I am a fiction but in your heads
I only exist to entertain, to prevent masses to awake
Ignorance shall prevail

To lead and to fulfill the plebeians’ desires, to corrupt and subvert
I need but to despise the very substance of truth
And define what is right

Like every traitor and willing pawns, I believe in my own lies
My exhortations, the words I preach are but systematic shifts

I am a fiction but in your heads
I only exist to entertain, to prevent masses to awake
Ignorance shall prevail

Like every traitor, I believe in my own lies
The words I preach are but systematic shifts

And you shall move on my very commands
Your shattered will is such a delight for me

Like every traitor and willing pawns, I believe in my own lies
My exhortations, the words I preach are but systematic shifts

I am a fiction but in your heads
I only exist to entertain, to prevent masses to awake
Ignorance shall prevail

True, there are much too less comments for such a meaningful band...

AEON might refer to a geological time, or an era in general. Pretty straight-forward the speaker is some kind of propagandist/dictator who tells the mass of the people what to do and think (or better, not to think by themselves anymore at all), to control the masses. He denies the truth and defines his own one, in which he also believes. His only use is that he proclaims that false truth. "I am a fiction but in your heads" Maybe he isn't a real person, but only the body of...

I'm going to take a shot at this, but It'll probably sound dumb. I think the song is referring to the belief of god and how people preach their lies, "to prevent masses to awake." I would write more but I think I may be wrong :) Any other thoughts?

I think that this song is a reference to the news networks and how they manipulate the what they present.
