Fuzzy Lyrics

Fuzzy - Collective Soul

Good morning sunshine
Bring on your pain
Oh sweet Jesus I swear I'll
I'll never taste it again

Not tonight
Not tonight

Oh no Ok so let's go
I can live my life in slow mo
I think I was your boyfriend once though
But I was fuzzy then
Yeah, fuzzy, now

Twinkling starlight
Yeah it's time to write
Why here its not or never
'Cause its my time to shine

Not tonight
Not tonight

Ok no Ok so let's go
I won't live this life in slow mo
I think I was your girlfriend once though
But I was fuzzy then

Oh no Oh no Ok so let's go
We can live our lives in slow mo
I think I was your boyfriend twice though
But I was fuzzy then

I can't shake it
I just can't shake it
I can't shake it
I just can't shake it
Tonight
No, not tonight

I won't shake it
I just can't shake it
I won't shake it
I just can't shake it
Tonight
No, not tonight
Yeah

Not tonight
Not tonight

Oh no Ok so let's go
I won't like this life in slow mo
I think I was your girlfriend twice though
But I was fuzzy then

Oh no Oh no Ok so let's go
We won't live this life in slow mo
You know we're all just pissed here though, yeah
We're all fuzzy again, yeah
We're all fuzzy again
Fuzzy again
Fuzzy my friend
Fuzzy my friends

Yeah!

Is this song about the Movie Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind? The whole concept of the movie was there was a service that allowed you to wipe your mind of any thoughts of someone you once dated, and the character after trying to erase his memory decides he doesn't want to and tries to stop it from happening as his mind is erased. And at the end it turns out that even though their minds were erased they still have longings for what's missing and know that something is missing.

The first paragraph seems to reference the Sunshine in the title, and could be interpreted as his call to get his memory wiped as he no longer wants to feel the pain. Not Tonight. But then he keeps having faulty memory as to whether he was his gf's boyfriend previously. The lines "I just can't shake it" could be the feeling that he's been with this person before even though his mind has been wiped. and I was your your gf twice though could be referring to the character who is in love with the doctor who administers the treatment and at the end realizes that she's already dated him and then had her mind wiped and now she's reliving her crush all over again.

This song is a little intimidating at first because of the whistle, but give it a few listens and you can't get this shit out of your head! It's a great song, the chorus is especially catchy.

This song seems to be about having a crazy night of partying, and then waking up the next day "fuzzy" (aka hungover). Most likely happened a lot when the guys were recording their new album, haha, funny song.

It's pretty obvious to me that it's about a hangover too, but when I listen to this song sometimes, the album name (Rabbit) kinda pops into my head and I think about how rabbits are fuzzy. So then I see rabbits hopping in a field. I know it's weird, but that's what I think about.

I just think that it's cool how they use the word "fuzzy" in the first place, when they could have used, "blurry" or "delirious" or "forgetful" or some other lame synonym. Fuzzy is just a funny word to me.

My Interpretation

At face value this song is about a hangover.

However, I think this song is an extended metaphor: alcohol-the 'high' of a relationship hangover-fallout after the relationship

Sometimes lines like "taste it" seem specifically vague, so they could refer to either alcohol or the experience of love, freedom, etc. Also, asking morning to "bring on your pain" is a little too dramatic for a simple hangover, wouldn't you say?

Notice how often he repeats that he thinks he had a relationship. In a hangover, wouldn't you focus more on your headaches/illness (he never mentions these)? Living in "slo-mo" could just be depression, or the dream-like state of shock following a fallout.

Finally, consider the lines "I can't shake it... I just can't shake it tonight." Notice how this is easily the most emotional part of the song. If you can't shake your feelings for another person, it makes sense that you would get emotional. If you can't shake a hangover, or the desire to drink alcohol, I don't see why it would be sung as such an epiphany. He is singing about how he can't stifle his feelings for someone.
