Come on you can look at me
I don't need to fit in
Stand up if you give a damn
It's the living season
Who and what you're looking for
Have you got a reason
You can if you wanna see
Touch I'm on only human

The same blood
The same cells
The same God
The same hell
The same life
The same love
Somebody, anybody
Everybody stand up.

Hey you!
We can turn it up
Hey you!
We can turn it up

You know no one's listening
They don't want to it
Saying what you wanna say
People start to fear it.

The same fist
The same shout
The same pain
The same doubt
The same joy
The same love
Somebody, anybody
Everybody stand up

Hey you!
We can turn it up
Hey you!
We can turn it up
Silence has been killing you
Screaming deep inside of you
Just turn it up
Just turn it up.

All that you got
Just turn it up
Ready or not
Just turn it up
Louder
Don't ever stop
Louder
Just turn it up
Louder
What's making you hot
Louder
Just turn it up

Come on you can look at me
I don't need to fit in
You can if you wanna see
Touch I'm only human

The same blood
The same cells
The same God
The same hell
The same life
The same love
Somebody, anybody
Everybody stand up.

Hey you!
We can turn it up
Hey you!
We can turn it up
Silence has been killing you
Screaming deep inside of you
Just turn it up
Just turn it up.

Silence has been killing you
Screaming deep inside of you
Just turn it up
Just turn it up.

All that you got
Just turn it up
Ready or not
Just turn it up

One thing I noticed is that the actual lyric is "Just turn it up." I personally love all the songs on Humanoid. :D

I think it's talking about how he's getting criticism for being different in the music, and that he, or anyone shouldn't be afraid of speaking out if they believe in it. I think that the chorus is saying that you should speak out as loud as you can if you really believe in something, not just whispering quietly, but yelling it as loud as you can!

I think that with same love, same hell and god, he means the people in his 'world' ( read 'emogothpunkjunkies' as they are usually called). People tend to look down on this 'kind' people, isolating them and making fun of them. I think he means here that we ( the listeners) all like this kind of music, and should be proud of it and not hide it just for the sake of not being laughed at....I don't know how it is worldwide, but where I live very many people go 'omfg you listen to TH?! ewww emo!'

I see this song both as critics on the way people treat him; 'you can touch, I'm only human' and as an advise to just be proud of who you are and have the guts to stand up for yourself.

...or something. It could be just me... ^^"

Well... I think the song is about how people love to judge be the cover and u dont have to put up to it , u don't have to fit in and be a part of the crowd , just be urself . I think when Bill is saying " The same blood , The same cells..." he means that people r the same and theres no reason to judge... I might me wrong ... ^___^" But still I think its about not fitting in.

    This song is my anthem.

It's pretty much about how you shouldn't stick a label on people just tell them to fuck off. Just cuz they're not hipsters like you, it doesn't mean you have to treat them like shit. Why does remind me of junior high.....?

Anyway, this is what any lone emo, goth, geek, nerd, dork, whatever- would want to scream at the top of their lungs.

So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness". The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns) There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
