This is about college for me. Like when those friends leave and you see them again, either planned or unexpectedly, they've changed so much. We all change, but I'm very lucky my close friends are still, and always will be, the people I love.
This song is about how he and the other guys from The Starting Line all changed over time and even after the break up..he's saying that if they all returned they wouldn't be anything like they were the last time they were all together..the last part is amazing "If you've changed so much..Or you might want to be someone else..Run the risk of being an impressionist..We should all become ourselves " it sums up exactly how he felt about the situation..he had changed and conformed so much he wasn't happy in his dream scenario anymore..so he ended it and became true to himself by being the artist he had always envisioned
It's funny when a band member goes solo, everyone thinks any song they write with a slightly negative connotation is about their former band members. This song is definitely not about The Starting Line, especially since half the members of The Starting Line were in Person L anyways and none of them ever felt any hostility towards each other or they wouldn't have reunited.
