For Always, Forever Lyrics
Another late night driving around
We're losing sunlight so we head downtown
To Woodward off Charlotte Street
The old place that we used to meet
We were young and we lived it up
But those nights never lasted long enough
Looking back we were so naive
What happened to the days when we shared our dreams
If I could go back now
I wouldn't change a thing
Oh it feels so good
To say
Guess we made it this far
Guess we're doing alright
Looks like we made it out alive
Yeah we made our mistakes
But we followed our hearts
Even though we drift apart
For always, forever
Weathered yellow still frames in my head
For always, forever
The sun rise would beat us to sleep
We didn't wanna go home so slept on the beach
Oh the summer never felt so sweet
I still feel the sand in underneath my feet
Memories of the nights that faded
I don't know how the hell we made it
Looking back we had everything
Those were the days when we shared our dreams
If I could go back now
I wouldn't change a thing
Oh it feels so good
To say
Guess we made it this far
Guess we're doing alright
Looks like we made it out alive
Yeah we made our mistakes
But we followed our hearts
Even though we drift apart
For always, forever
The secondhand kiss of a summer night
For always, forever
Even though some time has passed and we've gone our separate ways
No matter how far apart we'll always have our memories
If I could go back now
I wouldn't change a thing
Oh it feels so good
To say
Oh it feels so good
Guess we made it this far
Guess we're doing alright
Looks like we made it out alive
Yeah we made our mistakes
But we followed our hearts
Even though we drift apart
For always, forever
Endless copper street lamps on my mind
For always, forever
At Woodward off Charlotte Street
We're losing sunlight so we head downtown
To Woodward off Charlotte Street
The old place that we used to meet
But those nights never lasted long enough
Looking back we were so naive
What happened to the days when we shared our dreams
I wouldn't change a thing

whats the song actually about?
is it about the fact that even though they are over, they are still on good terms. and they enjoyed the relationship they had and would do it again if they could?
i just kind of get that from this bit -
'We were young and we lived it up But those nights never lasted long enough Looking back, we're so naive What happened to the days When we shared our dreams? If I could go back now I wouldn't change a thing'
and also this bit
'Yeah, we made our mistakes But we followed our hearts Even though we drift apart For always, forever'
i'm not sure how to describe it, but is it about having a good relationship with an ex. and how good your relationship was when you were together? and there will always be a part of them that still has feelings for each other. and you would do it all again...
Yay first comment even though this lyrics have been here for a while... well to me this song sounds like BLG I like the song, not bad at all :)
BLG? Don't be ridiculous, dear, Ev Ave's one of a kind. ;)
Very catchy with a clear meaning. Sweetest song of regret I've ever heard. Also one of my favorites off Picture Perfect.
And it's "We WERE so naive" instead of "We're so naive."
this song could be a past relationship. but, the way i think of it is that the band is looking back on their years of growing up / being a teenager in their town. theyve drifted apart from their old friends but they still remember all of the good times they had growing up before they grew apart. they love their lives and new friends and touring now, but will never forget their old great memories
Anyone else notice he references Detroit? Or is that just me..
Anyway, I think it's about how a relationship was amazing while it lasted and how its ok that it ended, but it could be talking about the band and their music...?
In my opinion, it's about a past relationship that he has learned not to regret. He still misses those times, as when he says, "What happened to the days when we shared our dreams?" but he doesn't regret them, as he says, "If I could go back now, I wouldn't change a thing". Something happened to them, and the two drifted apart. Even though they are aware that things changed and that they can't ever go back to the kind of relationship they had, they're still are able to smile when they think of the good times they had and their memories. It's very bittersweet - a part of him wants to go back, and another part knows that he never will be able to. He says, "Yeah, we made our mistakes, but we followed our hearts" - he's happy for the love that he felt, but has picked up his feet and has gotten over it, or is trying to, and move on. He won't ever forget it, and will forever remember it as a good thing.
The song represents my situation exactly, as my special person and I had an aweseome summer together, the best time of our lives, but things got worse and we drifted away. We've been trying to get back together and try again several times. A part of me wants to try again because it misses those times terribly, but another part knows inside that we can't ever go back. The song's helped me decide that for right now, we can't be in a relationship, maybe later, maybe never, but definitely not right now. It gives me the impression that I shouldn't be sad for what happened, but be glad for the good times I had. Thanks for the song, it gives much strength. ;]
It's about a dog.
