Losin Yo Head Lyrics
comin home alone at night i'm so scared!
turn on all the lights, check underneath the stairs.
open all the closets, make sure they're no monsters in there!
livin in a small house, it's fairly easy to check.
if i were livin in a mansion, i'd probably just sleep out on the deck.
heaving on the boulder, just trying to move it an inch...
i think i'm gettin close, i think i'm gettin bolder...
but then it all starts to slip...and i keep on makin the same old faces again.
partyin with strangers or stickin with close friends instead...
it don't matter what you're doin, as long as you're losin your head.
out ridin on the range, or layin with you here in bed...
it don't matter what i'm doin, as long as i'm losin my head.
way back when the smallest trip was the greatest quest.
now sometimes i get bored, even tho i know i'm blessed.
comin and goin like we do it's hard to keep friends i know firsthand...
i'm tired of doin nothin, feel like we should be making plans.
we need a little thrill i can see it in our faces-
yeah- turn off the tv set.
the feeling of adventure, i think we all remember it.
partyin with strangers or stickin with close friends instead...
it don't matter what i'm doin, as long as i'm losin my head.
out ridin on the range, or layin with you here in bed...

I think I might have a better interpertation than what I previously thought. The opening begins with him saying how scared he is checking for monsters (paranoia) and then the line "way back when the smallest trip was the greatest quest." Could possibly be reference to getting high (would explain the paranoia). And then about the carefree partying etc etc. I think it really is about going out and having a great night, completely smashed.
seems to me to be about how if you smoke enough marajuna u get paranoid also it keeps you up and anxious and u have to have it with everything: partyin with strangers or stickin with close friends instead... out ridin on the range, or layin with you here in bed...
I'm not sure if it's just me.. but, this is my least favorite song on the album. Idk, maybe it has yet to grow on me.. But I definitely skip it when listening to the album
Love this song, it just hit me today.
This song strikes me on a more shallow level than any of the other songs. Kind of hits on carefree/blissful/simple pleasures kind of attitude. Great song to get drunk to at a party.
However, I do really like when the music cuts off you hear Jims voice say "That was pretty cool!" then general agreement from the rest of the band then Conor "I felt better about that one."
This song is the most ROCK this album reaches.
Thank you Jim.
This song wasn't one of my favorites until I saw them in concert. Amazing. yes, thank you Jim!
Uh oh...that obviously isn't supposed to refer to the female anatomy...edit feature?
I think this song is more of a reflection towards the collab. Like, every memeber has some skeletons in there closet, so they're singing away their troubles. Trying to keep away from their monsters (or, their pasts) Making life good now, living life away from the monsters
To me it seems like it's about touring, probably with My Morning Jacket, but that's hard to say, the first part being about coming home to an empty house after a tour.
The second I see as an urging to try and have fun in everything you do, positivity being a very common thread in most songs by Jim James.
The third part again about touring, saying that earlier, way back, touring used to be more fun, the greatest quest, but now sometimes he gets bored even though he knows he should be blessed (that he can make a living out of music). He goes on to describe that touring, coming and going, makes it hard to keep friends and that he’s tired of doing nothing and feel like they (the band perhaps) should be making plans instead. Jim James has talked in interviews about working on other paths than the musical one and about eventually making a family, so possibly something to do with that.
