Lions! Lyrics

Give me a disaster, give me emergency
Stand me at the head of the crusade without a remedy
Show me to the shipwreck, show me how you're bones shake
And when I'm at the edge of sorrow's blade, show me how a heart breakes

Be steady on your feet
No matter the trouble you meet

Lions make you brave
Giants give you faith
Death is a charade
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid

Find me at the bottom looking at the vultures
Standing in the heart of the disease, following the hard curves
I'm looking for the thunder, I'm looking for the blackness
I'm learning how to get up off my knees and all takes is practice

Be ready on your feet
No matter the trouble you meet

Lions make you brave
Giants give you faith
Death is a charade
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid

I'm not the hunter, I'm not the marked
Just looking for wisdom in the dark

I think that this Bible verse describes this song perfectly:

"What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

-Romans 8:31

Definitely about WoW. When I saw her live, she introduced the song by saying "This is a song about massivelymultiplayeronlineroleplayinggames!"

I think its about World of Warcraft but its also about being hopeful and fighting your battles, knowing you can pull through.

There are many allusions to the World of Warcraft within this song.

"Stand me at the head of the crusade without a remedy" In the World of Warcraft, the Argent Crusade is battling against the Undead Scourge and the Lich King, it is their crusade. I believe the remedy mentioned in this line also refers to her class, the Death Knight, as there is no way to reverse the transformation they undergo.

"Lions make you brave" Lights plays a Human Warrior and a Draenei Death Knight in the game, which both hail the Alliance. Their symbol is a lion.

"Death is a charade" As previously stated, she plays a Death Knight. Death Knights have "died," yet are reborn as agents of the Lich King (originally), therefore their death was much more of a charade.

"Standing in the heart of the disease, following the hard curves" Yet another reference to the Death Knights, as they spread disease, and are essentially consumed by them.

"I'm not the hunter, I'm not the marked" For t3h lulz. Everyone always blames it on the Hunter!

While it is about WOW, I definitely believe she is using it as a metphor for her faith. Go LIGHTS!

I definitely agree

While I think it's valid about it being about WOW---I think that the chorus could be looked into as certain stories of the bible really easily, which i don't think it's a coincidence....

"Lions make you brave"--Daniel and the Lions Den

"Giants give you faith"--David and Goliath

"Death is a charade"---Jesus and Lazarus

"You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid"--goes back to Daniel and the fact that Daniel may have not have been safe with all those lions around him--but he felt God on his side and felt safe anyways.

So while i think it's awesome it's based off WOW---This is how I hear it. And I like it much better.

Not every song about being brave or having a positive message is Christian, are you guys serious? She's said many many times the song is about WoW, and if you really think that WoW is a metaphor for god, then you're a headcase.
