It's late and I am tired, wish I could spark a smile
The place is flying high but right now I want to be low
Don't want to move an inch, let alone a million miles
And I don't want to go but I know I gotta go
I just want to feel alive
The times you don't want to wake up
'Cause in your sleep it's never over when you give up
The sun is always going to rise up
You need to get up, gotta keep your head up
Look at the people all around you
The way you feel is something everybody goes through
Dark out, but you still gotta light up
You need to wake up, gotta keep your face up
Seems like the more you grow, the more time you spend alone
Before you know it you end up perfectly on your own
City's shining bright, but you don't see the light
How come you concentrate on things that don't make you feel right
I just want to feel alright
The times you don't want to wake up
'Cause in your sleep it's never over when you give up
The sun is always going to rise up
You need to get up, gotta keep your head up
Look at the people all around you
The way you feel is something everybody goes through
Dark out, but you still gotta light up
You need to wake up, gotta keep your face up
I'm looking for more than a little bit
I'm gonna have to find my way through it
Gonna leave a mark, I'm gonna set a spark
I'm coming up off the ground
I won't be looking down
The place is flying high but right now I want to be low
Don't want to move an inch, let alone a million miles
And I don't want to go but I know I gotta go
'Cause in your sleep it's never over when you give up
The sun is always going to rise up
You need to get up, gotta keep your head up
Look at the people all around you
The way you feel is something everybody goes through
Dark out, but you still gotta light up
You need to wake up, gotta keep your face up
Before you know it you end up perfectly on your own
City's shining bright, but you don't see the light
How come you concentrate on things that don't make you feel right
'Cause in your sleep it's never over when you give up
The sun is always going to rise up
You need to get up, gotta keep your head up
Look at the people all around you
The way you feel is something everybody goes through
Dark out, but you still gotta light up
You need to wake up, gotta keep your face up
I'm gonna have to find my way through it
Gonna leave a mark, I'm gonna set a spark
I'm coming up off the ground
I won't be looking down

I can't believe no one has commented on this one yet! It's one of my favorites off the the album. I think it's a pretty obvious meaning, you're really down but you have to keep going and keep hoping. :)
Love this song.. Very uplifting indeed. Tells me no matter how bad things get you always have to keep your face up, because everyday is another day to make a difference. And only YOU and yourself only can make changes for the better.
i love this song:) it's uplifting and catchy.
this is her best song
Amazinggggg....definitely my favorite <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :)
this song is so amazing. i think its just saying that if your really sad and down and depressed, you need to keep your head up....your face up. you gotta get happy, cause its not worth being sad. i love the lyrics in this song, theyre so powerful and meaningful. "the times you dont wanna wake up, cause when you sleep its never over when you give up." i love that. its so true. when your depressed, you just sleep...cause reality isnt there. you can do whatever you want in your dreams, and its okay. everything turns out fine. an amazing song.
The initial meaning of this song is rather self explanatory. However, upon further inspection it can be perceived that the first verse is Light's feelings on an event and the chorus is Lights telling herself she needs to "keep [her] head up". The alternation of the depressed feelings and the motivational chorus proceeds until the end of the song where she is ultimately inspired to bring the ideas proposed by the chorus to life. This is highlighted through the use of the word "spark" in a now positive connotation.
I think it's really about growing up and going out on your own because she says "Seems like the more you grow, the more time you spend alone Before you know it you end up perfectly on your own" Which could mean (from what I'm going through) graduating high school and going off to college and living all by your self. It's to keep your head up, your face up and be proud but also not to let the things that you don't want to let go to, hold you back form keeping your face up....I donno if any one can get that xD but that's what I think this song is trying to tell us.
This song truly is amazing. Her voice is so astonishing. This song really speaks to me, especially when I'm feeling down or depressed. I believe it means to always keep going, and move on. There is no need to let your life go to waste, always keep your head up high and be strong, it will all turn out okay.
This song let's me keep my focus. That all of us are going through the same kind of problems, some of us still living off of parents in some way or another. These are the kinds of problems we ALL have. I think life is not a matter of staying up, but how to handle getting up. Until we can grow to stay up.
But she tells you that your dreams are always there. That every day the sun rises up, so no matter what we have the light pushing us forward. We always have positive forces that won't stop bringing us up, and sometimes we fight tooth and nail against...ourselves.
"City's shining bright, but you don't see the light How come you concentrate on things that don't make you feel right"
Is most powerful to me. Because as humans we concentrate on the problems, until all we see is problems. We have to concentrate on all the happiness and light around us, and ride.
