Tender Torture Lyrics
I'll be your wave, carrying you to shore,
And if your ribs are peeking through your fur,
I'll feed you some more,
I rode out of the city without you in my arms,
Under the moonglow I was a windblown, cast down, carved out watermelon,
Without you in my arms,
Without you in my arms,
Chorus
And I've seen some great things,
But I don't wanna see anything,
If I can't see you,
Kicked open a coconut,
Could've shared it with anyone,
But I wanted to share it with you,
Oooh, oooh,
I'll be your strings,
If you pluck them, I'll sing for you,
And if your hands are feeling tender,
I'll take them in my own and make them better,
I rose out of the water,
I can hold my breath for only so long,
I pushed past the breeze from the palm trees,
I'm coming towards you,
I've got to have you in my arms,
I'm gonna have you in my arms,
Chorus
And I've seen some great things,
But I don't wanna see anything,
If I can't see you,
Kicked open a coconut,
Could've shared it with anyone,
But I wanted to share it with you,
Oooh, oooh,
You send me over, intend to torture,
And when it's over it's tender torture.
And if your ribs are peeking through your fur,
I'll feed you some more,
I rode out of the city without you in my arms,
Under the moonglow I was a windblown, cast down, carved out watermelon,
Without you in my arms,
Without you in my arms,
And I've seen some great things,
But I don't wanna see anything,
If I can't see you,
Kicked open a coconut,
Could've shared it with anyone,
But I wanted to share it with you,

And if your hands are feeling tender,

I think its about a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend and she keeps his dog!
"I'll be your wave, carrying you to shore, And if your ribs are peeking through your fur, I'll feed you some more, I rode out of the city without you in my arms"
He loves His Dog more then anything and feels empty with out it.
"Under the moonglow I was a windblown, cast down, carved out watermelon, Without you in my arms, Without you in my arms,
And he thinks of the memories he has with the dog and he explains his feeling like hes stranded on an island because his best friend isn't by his side...
Maybe? I would love to hear any other ideas!
Sternist I think your right! The torture being that, to see his dog, he must go see his ex-flame???

love this fucking song! seems to be a classic bittersweet love song. he's surrounded by so many great things, but they all seem so dull and pointless without the affection of the one he admires. we've all been there.
also, the second to last line...what's posted seems correct. but on repeated listenings i heard "you send me over, intend to torture". that just seems to make a lot more sense to me. could be mistaken.
this is right up there with
"millions of sunsets but the one i remember the one where you told me you'd love me foreverrrrrr"
i love islands forever
Best on the new album, although I'm the guy who thinks Arm's Way is the best album of this decade so take it for what it's worth.
