Slow Poison Lyrics
Burn, burn the house on fire
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Down I'm locked and loaded
You're so milk and roses
And I am just a letdown of your hound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, slow poison
Sing me one more hymnal
I have found my angel
Ah-ah-oh
She walks upon the ground
It's cut cut cutting me
Down on the empty can
I'm a stranger in a strange, strange land
Gone, gone, just gone without a sound
It's cut cut cutting me
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
And all of my dreams are only dreams
And all of my schemes are only schemes
And if this is my punishment
Then I want my crime to fit
Burn burn the house on fire
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
It's cutting me
Like slow poison
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Down I'm locked and loaded
You're so milk and roses
And I am just a letdown of your hound
It's cut cut cutting me down

This is about losing someone he loves, a very happy and cheerful girl that to him is an angel. He hasn't done anything bad enough (his crime) to deserve losing her and that is why its so unfair and its killing him inside (like slow poison). He also feels like a letdown and as if he doesn't belong that is why he feels like a stranger in a strange land. He thinks about this girl all the time and that is why he can still hear her. Amazing song!!!
Save me one more pillow is actually "Sing me one more hymnal"...Then i want my card to fit is really "then i want my crime to fit"
AWESOME SONG!!! As expected from The Bravery
I love this song the chourus is so....CATCHY! hahaha ya this song is amazing! Okay I think he's sad about 1.) letting down his mother? maybe.. 2.) losing a girlfriend? I dunno the why but I do know he's sad, and since he's sad and being "punished" he's going to do something bad so at least he will deserve it.. So ya..feedback anyone?
I feel like the lyrics (in some parts atleast) tell us that he's seen a girl like no other (the "angel") and he feels like he can't ever have her (much like many other songs)...
But then he talks about his punishment fitting his crime and that's where I'm not so sure...
I'm thinking maybe his punishment is that he'll never see the girl again and maybe he wants to do something so he can...and maybe whatever he wants to do is bad (the "crime")...
I'm really not so sure...Anyone else? It's a great song without knowing any meaning whatsoever, but there's a lot to this song, I think.
I think it just means that he feels like he's completely inadequate, for a girl specifically, and maybe also in life in general, especially for this: And all of my dreams are only dreams And all of my schemes are only schemes And if this is my punishment Then I want my crime to fit I think the lyrics are meaning that he just feels like he's not good enough for anything/is incapable of doing anything, especially in that part. When it says "and if this is my punishment/then I want my crime to fit" I think it means that he feels like he's been...

Song is about losing the girl he loved so much and it's destroying him like slow poison. He still thinks about her all the time but she's "milk and roses"-> she's sweet and lovely and content and his pain doesn't seem to bother her.
Such a sad, sad, song, and one of my favorites.
The first time I heard this song, I thought it wouldve been perfect in an 80s movie montage 0_o love it though <3
