Transformation Lyrics
Oh my hearties bold as brass
Roll it out like summer grass
Take me back where I come from
Transformation has begun
Throwing off the clothes of day
Complications fall away
All I am is laid to waste
Transformation takes my place
And just you keep it coming
A feeling I ain’t never felt before
And the way my heart is drumming
Well caution just goes flying right out the door
And ain’t this really something
We’re walking but our feet don’t touch the floor
Anymore
Standing quiet as a mouse
Rodedendrons for my house
Water lapping at my feet
Transformation is complete
Roll it out like summer grass
Take me back where I come from
Transformation has begun
Complications fall away
All I am is laid to waste
Transformation takes my place
A feeling I ain’t never felt before
And the way my heart is drumming
Well caution just goes flying right out the door
And ain’t this really something
We’re walking but our feet don’t touch the floor
Anymore
Rodedendrons for my house
Water lapping at my feet
Transformation is complete

I am struggling with this song. I imagine two meanings.
One, he's returning to childhood through make-believe and play with his daughters. Protected in the play he's free to shed the meaningless adult world to be whoever his imagination (or his daughters' game) allows him to be. He is transformed into an entirely different person, and in doing so coming back to his true child self.
Two, as the body prepares to die. The soul sheds the body and ascends, the transformation is complete. The soul can live anywhere, can be everywhere, can experience the excitement of pure love.
I think this is about one coming to peace with his/her God as they prepare to move on to the next life.
I consider this a love song, describing the act of falling in love as a transformation. In the beginning, we see a bachelor who has a soft side. Then, the daily struggles of life being eased. Finally, a new kind of peace is achieved through the love of a woman as the author was transformed to accept such a love.
