Try This At Home Lyrics

Let's inherit the earth,
'cause no one else is taking it
Come on do your worst, before the moment's passed
In bedrooms across England and all the western world
There's posters and there's magazines
'cause music isn't ours.

'Cause we write love songs in C and we do politics in G
We sing songs about our friends in E minor
So tear down the stars now and take up your guitars
And come on folks and try this at home

Let's stop waiting around for someone to patronize us
Let's hammer out a sound that speaks of where we've been
Forget about the haircuts and stupid skinny jeans
The stampings and the irony of the media philistines

'Cause we write love songs in C and we do politics in G
We sing songs about our friends in E minor
So tear down the stars now and take up your guitars
And come on folks and try this at home

Because the only thing
That punk-rock should ever really mean
Is not sitting round
And waiting for the lights to turn green
And not thinking that you're better
'cause you're stood up on a stage
If you're oh, so fucking different
Then who cares what you have to say?

'Cause there's no such thing as rockstars
There's just people who play music
And some of them are just like us
And some of them are dicks
So, quick turn off your stereo
Pick up that pen and paper
Yeah, you can do much better
Than some skinny half-arsed English country singer

'Cause we write love songs in C and we do politics in G
We sing songs about our friends in E minor
So tear down the stars now and take up your guitars
And come on folks and try this at home.

Superb song, totally inspirational, very fast paced for The Frank. Love the line- "if you're oh, so fucking different then who cares what you have to say?"

I thought it was "media festive" but you may be right. If it is phillistines, he's cramped a lot of syllables in.

I'm pretty certain it's "only thing that punk rock should ever really mean", not "really be"

The next line is "think that you're better cause you're stood up on a stage", not "still part of state".

Yeah, I think you're right about most of that (changed it now) but I still think that the festive / philistines bit sounds like it ends with an 'S'.

I only downloaded the album, so I don't know if it came with lyrics or not. If it did, please tell me the actual word? (It's pretty annoying not knowing for definite :P)

Astounding song, regardless. One of the best on the album.

you downloaded it? by that I sincerely hope you mean you bought it off itunes or something? We gotta support artists like frank!

I agree, we gotta support artists like Frank.. and that means NOT using Itunes and other middlemen who bleed the artists dry.

Donate to the artist or go to a gig if you really want to contribute to continuing their career.

That said, it's a great song and I agree with the sentiment.

just had a quick look at the lyrics that came with the cd, its stampedes rather than stampings and media-fed scenes rather than media philistines.

hope that helps!

I love this song, one of the best from one of the best artists.

They probably weren't written for this, but the lyrics:

"'Cause there's no such thing as rockstars there's just people who play music and some of them are just like us and some of them are dicks"

reminds me of Axl Rose xD

i think its 'Because the only thing that punk-rock should ever really mean' not never really mean
