This song seems to be about Søren Kierkegaard's relationship with Regine Olsen.

The last verse I didn't really get. But recently figured out it's probably a reference to the "Knight of Infinite Resignation" element of Kierkegaard's philosophy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_of_faith#Knight_of_faith_and_the_knight_of_infinite_resignation
