Answered Lyrics

(Chorus)
All that I have are questions
So much is veiled in mystery
Give away yourself, the answer, the only answer that I need

Brokenness, I must confess, darkens all my thoughts and hides your hands
Questions fade before your face and I contend that I may never understand

(Chorus)

Of what I spoke I did not know
Things too wonderful and high for me
In ignorance, I gave offense
I had heard of you but now my eyes to see

All that I have are questions
So much is veiled in mystery
You were, yourself, the answer, the only answer that I need

You are all I need
(x4)

your lyrics are wrong. dustin posted them on thrice.net, here they are:

ANSWERED All that I have are questions; So much is veiled in mystery. But you are yourself the answer– The only answer that I need.

My brokenness (I must confess) Darkens all my thoughts, and hides your hands. But questions fade before your face, And I’m content that I may never understand.

Of what I spoke I did not know– Of things too wonderful and high for me. In ignorance I gave offense; I had heard of you but now my eyes have seen.

The song is obviously about God and Dustin's relationship with him.

Of what I see, this song is an answer to Stare at the Sun.

"And I'll stare straight, into the sun And I won't close my eyes Until I understand or go blind"

This song, in my opinion, was heavily influenced by the CS Lewis novel "Till We Have Faces". The book is about this girl who is a princess in a primitive ancient nation who, throughout her life, begins to reject her nations religion. But by the end of her life, she has an encounter with her God which causes her to return to her religion she once considered superstitious. That is a really basic, superficial interpretation as TWHF is an extremely deep novel, but the theme is still the same. Also, I remember Dustin was reading this book during the writing and recording of this album, so it would make sense that it inspired the lyrics for this song.

Also, there are similarities with this and the biblical story of Job. The line, "I had heard of you but now my eyes have seen" is a paraphrase from Job 42:5.

Anyway, I hope this helps somebody understand where Dustin was coming from when writing this song.

So these lyrics aren't correct. But I really like what is written here. Where did it come from?

LOL "CaptSugar" Good luck with that denial. I think it came from a blog showing concern and wishing him/her good luck. (I left a comment.) I think the artist has lied so often that he can't even admit the truth to himself. How could he possibly not recall that everything he thinks he puts to music. Insulting artist. Thinks he's brigher than everyone. Sorry. The artist is in the same spot he was years ago. No growth. No interest on my part.
