The Dream Lives of Ordinary People Lyrics
don't worry boy it's just a queer life
totally different from your real life
don't worry boy it's just a queer lif
no connection to your real life
sometimes i wake up in the middle of life
i can't wait i can't wait for you
to turn around and get it
sometimes i wake up in the middle of life
still waiting, just waiting, just waiting
for life to begin
and how's your queer life
yeah, how's your queer life
is it killing you
how's your queer life
yeah, how's your queer life
is it killing you
don't worry girl it's just your queer love
totally different from your real love
sometimes i wake up in a total fit
oh, us boys we never are working
girls addicted to the struggle
sometimes i wake up in the middle of it
you can't be, you can't be
you can't be afraid of what you can't see
and how's your queer life
yeah, how's your queer life
is it killing you
oh, how's your queer life
yeah, how's your queer life
is it killing you
and the day that I come to you
and I say "i'm no longer happy
will you set me free"
and the day that I come to you
and I say "i no longer feel it
release me"
be sons of lover, be sons of mischief
be sons of mine, in an open field
be sons of lover, marching for better
[inaudible] in an open field
real life, yeah
real life, yeah
real life, yeah, as we once knew
it is just around the corner from you
it is crush red velvet for me and you
oh, real life, yeah
oh, real life, yeah
real life, yeah, as we once knew
it is just around the corner from you
in a big denim pocket for me and you
oh, real life, yeah
oh, real life, yeah
oh, real life, yeah, as we once knew
it is just around the corner from you
in a poly-cotton headpiece for me and you
oh, real life, yeah
oh, real life, yeah
oh, real life, as we once knew
it is just around the corner from you
in a [inaudible] for me and you
totally different from your real life

This song is about Ramesh feeling sorry for himself.
I wish I could sugarcoat it because I love this band, but it is what it is.
I hope he gets out of his funk, because he's better than this. He's a talented artist and I hope he realizes how good he can be. This isn't the Ramesh and Voxtrot we all used to know and love :(
Yeah oops he was letting his gay leak out. How selfish of him. It's not like his other songs were personally motivated by his emotions regarding the current love in his life. Such a surprise that he actually came out and said it this time. Personally I think this song is one of his best because of its frankness and its disregard for others' opinions. You're wanting him to keep writing upbeat, poppy love songs when he's hurt instead of acting "emo" and writing how he really feels. Fuck that. It's obviously about being left for an "ordinary life". Its also an acceptance song, as he refers to others who are experiencing a similar struggle. You don't have to be queer to get it, just have to step outside of yourself a little.
To me, it is about finally accepting yourself as you are instead of trying to hide behind a facade of an "ordinary life," even if that may not be what others wish you to be. This interpretation that I have makes it one of my favorite Voxtrot songs in terms of theme.
sadly, your right. It's too bad they broke up but it was obvious the end was near after songs like this one. I can't see the other band members being too fired up to play songs with these self-absorbed lyrics...
