The first verse tells everything. He obviously feels stuck with his life, and he wants freedom. Maybe wants to pursue his dreams again? Just wants to forget everything and hit the road. That's all I think this song is about, gaining his independence/freedom back. The whole "Fly dragonfly" is himself telling himself to just get out of whatever it is he is stuck in.

i think these are correct lyrics, i think he is talking about the end of the world, either that or the whole song is a hpyothesis for ones life ending and the dragon fly symbolizes that persons soul escaping.

I think mattjames and Brittanyx are both right. His life is in a hole. He is telling himself, look what is the worst that can happen? Gets your grown man on and try something else! Even if you fail you will only be back where you started.

I agree with MattJames2010 - those lyrics seem correct. I think the key to the song is in the acoustic version. The lyrics are slightly different.

This is a band's lament song. He's alone on the road, and he's starting to lose his ability to hack it. He just doesn't care anymore, about touring, about the band, about any of it. Instead of enjoying the crowd, he's enjoying the alone moments (when I come, get me a peace...take my advice, just let me be) when he dreams about the dragonfly - his happiness, his strength, his girl at home. That explains the added couplet on this version.

I think it's about a guy who's just done with where he is in life and wants to do his own thing, for once. The world could end for all he cares, he just wants freedom.

He also wants to see howhow his life changes, as he chose the words'fly, dragonfly '. Dragonflies represent change in some folklores, like mine. It represents power, change/transformation, and freedom, the latter being tied to pretty much any winged creature.

He wants to be free to do his own thing and see how his life changes as a result
