I'm pretty sure that this song is about addiction. The cycle of addiction in a relationship.

(he's used again, and it's physically obvious. she's disappointed in him, and due to his guilt he instantly feels horrible instead of "high")

(he's is now able to accept the fact that he's an addict and his addiction has gotten the best of him, or "defeated" him. he needs her to help him through this. he's lost control of himself, and as an addict he can't be trusted because he'll do anything to "get what he needs." the last part is obvious, because he cares about her so much, if he can't stop for her, he absolutely won't stop because he wants to.)

(a "promise" that someone experiences addiction will make. as much as he cares about her, it's not enough because his addiction has overtaken him, but he wants to "do better" for her)

(he's continuously slipping up and she's losing her faith in him being able to stop. his conscious has "slipped away" as an addict he'll do anything to get it, without feeling bad about it, he "couldn't feel a thing." his actions could even be considered "evil" and they getting worse as the days go on and he falls further into his addiction.)
