Remember Me Lover Lyrics
I didn't want to feel like a slave to your mood swings
And I'm not saying anything I wouldn't say behind your back
And all this shit could've happened to anyone
All that matters now is how you're gonna pick it up to throw it back
It's so hard
To get along
I always know what you're gonna say
And this too
I hated you
I wish you'd learn to keep your mouth shut
I never meant to start anything that I couldn't finish
But now I've gotta be the one to turn away, it's time to react
I meant every word that I said, yeah I really did
But you gotta understand that I was sleeping then, so relax
I walked away now remember me lover
I told you lies now remember me lover
I took your money remember me lover
I ruined your life now remember me lover
I've been through this with you about a hundred times
Agree to disagree and start again with our lives
Then every single morning I wake up and you're still there
But tomorrow you will be alone and that is all you deserve
And I'm not saying anything I wouldn't say behind your back
And all this shit could've happened to anyone
All that matters now is how you're gonna pick it up to throw it back
To get along
I always know what you're gonna say
And this too
I hated you
I wish you'd learn to keep your mouth shut
But now I've gotta be the one to turn away, it's time to react
I meant every word that I said, yeah I really did
But you gotta understand that I was sleeping then, so relax
I told you lies now remember me lover
I took your money remember me lover
I ruined your life now remember me lover
Agree to disagree and start again with our lives
Then every single morning I wake up and you're still there
But tomorrow you will be alone and that is all you deserve

This song is obviously about his relationship with Mikael Akerfeldt.
why would you think that?

The lyrics are fine gimme a break. They don't have to be genius to be even half good. The main thing is if they convey what the writer is trying to get out. That's the only real measure of good lyrics from an artistic standpoint.
Just a thought, but I don't think the song is necessarily autobiographical. Steve doesn't always write from his own experiences. I think it's more fictional, just an idea of someone ruining someone else's life through a bad relationship. But the speaker is telling him or her to get over it because the relationship meant more to one person than it did to the other.
The guitar in the beginning is so amazing, I wish I knew how to rip just that and loop it endlessly. It's so beautiful.
As for the lyrics, I don't see what's wrong with them, he presented them a bit awkward, sure...but that's not a problem. People seem to forget this is an album for a new PT sound, so don't expect it to be 100% PT.
It's 100% PT with a hint of new flavor.
Simmer.
I actually like the lyrics to this song. Steven Wilson is not unfamiliar with break up songs, and he conveys different types of emotions with different songs. Start of Something Beautiful is quite sad, Shesmovedon is reflective and well, sad, as I guess most breakup songs would be.
This one is just plain bitter, which is a definite stage of some post breakup. You feel nothing but bitter resentment, and this song conveys that perfectly, and so do the lyrics.
Fuckin amazing song but on the other hand it could be more powerful in meanings but still it's an Incident of the main character SW is god
I don't have a problem with the lyrics personally. I enjoy the fact that Wilson experiments with various different songwriting styles in his music. I think he encapsulates perfectly the breakdown of a long term relationship in this song. Very nice ending to a very nice album! :)
We'll, i guess we can all say we didn't expect this kind of lyrics from Wilson...
I like it. The lyrics remind me of "What Do You Want From Me?" by Pink Floyd, and the music is awesome.
Am I the only one who thinks the guitar in this song is very reminiscent of Radioactive Toy?

to me, this song is about the end of a relationship (duh!) but to be more specific...
since the separation was quite bitter, memories of the once healthy relationship are overridden by the horrible aspects of it. When two people separate, the relationship can be remembered as fruitful OR uninspiring and I think thats somewhat dependent on how the "break-up" is conducted. Thats what this song is about IMO.
I really love the lyrics:
"I walked away now remember me lover I told you lies now remember me lover I took your money remember me lover I ruined your life now remember me lover"
I picture SW mocking the subject in these lyrics. Basically saying, she did all this shit to him but still expects to be remembered as a "lover".
