"The first time you get your heart broken, it's the worst. You've never experienced anything like that. The first time you're in love, & you get your heart handed to you on a platter, You don't know what to do with that, you don't know how to handle that. The songs lyrically saying, the first one sucks & it hurts a lot, & it stays with you for a long time. And you're never really going to loose it, You're always going to compare it to whoever your with after that."

This one is pretty self-explanatory when you listen to it. It's about a broken heart, obviously.
The song begins with the typical symptoms of a break-up: feeling the person around you, endless thoughts about them, disbelief in how the perfect relationship somehow ended.
Then we learn that this is the writer's first broken heart, and how it hurts so badly; it's a new hurt that the person doesn't know. They'd do anything to get their love back, and just misses them so badly.
This is a great song on the new album, I'm personally in love with it.
This song's about getting your heart broken during the very first time you were in love; first love. That guy/girl took your heart away. It's a painful experience that will be etched in your mind forever.
I think this time a fire killed that special one and left your heart broken. It took you a really long time to get over it and sometimes, you may not even get over it. Even if you do get over it, the memories will be brought back and you'll feel that noone can be compared to your first love because that special one would be unlike any other in your eyes.

This song is so true. My first love also sucked. I agree with the term "There's a fire in the city That's burning out tonight, You should be there but you're barely breathing". I was so crushed, i felt like i'm dead. My friends told me to go out but i wasn't in the mood for anything.
my first real break up was like that, i was so crushed. people tried to cheer me up. it worked a little. i don't really think that i was ever the same after that. after all the first one is the worst one when it comes to a broken heart. first cut is always the deepest, depending on how much you like the person of course. obiously, he was crushed when he had his first real break up.
He is speaking the truth. Your first heartbreak is most def the worst. He is talking about that feeling when you just lie in bed all day thinking about the memories. And begging them to be with you. But it's also the best feeling when you know that what you had was real, and you will find someone else one day who loves you so much more. Nobody will ever compare to your first love. And that's how you find a good man.
