You have no interest in the past
Where you came from
Where you're going to

There's a cliche in your eye
File the edges down
Soon be underground

There's nothing here for you under the sun
There's nothing new to do, it's all been done
So put your faith in another place

Never seem to get away from this
It's all falling into an abyss
So put your foot on the pedal boy

All you know is secondhand
The bullet passed through the cage inside you

You stole the only thing you love
So unfaithful, the drop is fatal

This song was one of the few last songs that i heard from the album 'THE INCIDENT'. This album to me is like a journey or more like the description of a lifetime of a person. Music does the justification with all the incidents and events that took place on the run and it has been very beautifully portrayed. BLACK DAHLIA….still not sure why the name but from what i can hear from the song it is that he is warning you against something that you are about to put your faith on. And i guess it’s not just faith but something more because he talks about how you have lost all your interest in the past when you arrived at this point. How you are ready to give yourself and your trust to something that has nothing in it for you. Well you can relate it with whatever emotion or incident you want ...that’s the beauty of PT they don’t generalize the human emotions but they allow us to make and have our own interpretation!! For me i like to think he's talking about love. How people forget their self, their past and future when they fall in love. or may be its the start of falling in love which suits most in these lines….the kind of love that is one sided for now. He warns you that there is nothing for you that would be good for you in this. All things that you could possibly imagine have already been done and so you can bring nothing new to the picture. He says to put your faith on any place but this… “You stole the only thing you love So unfaithful…..” Sometimes you start loving someone so deeply that you forget the most important thing…YOURSELF. I read it somewhere “It’s impossible to love someone else without loving yourself”….well sometimes you are so lost in loving the other person that you forget about yourself. It can be fatal for blinded in love you would not mind doing something for the sake of love that may harm you and so it’s dangerous. Love is beautiful, I know but only when you respect it but love has no limits, love knows no bounds and sometimes people cross that boundary without even noticing it. Love can be dangerous believe me….. Well so much from a novice in love and lyrical interpretation….YOUR TRUTH IS YOURS TO DECIDE!!!!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
