Harold T. Wilkins, or How To Wait For A Very Long Lyrics
You’ve been packing your bags for the tenth time
You’ve been up on the roof again
And you’re biding your time but it’s all right they’re coming any week now
Left behind by the mothership, they’re our only real friends
And inside, you’ll always feel the same, even when you wake up
Even if you wake up
In a town where everyone will kick and scream
And come to the same conclusion every time
Time to realise you were never on the team
There was always a question hanging over you
In a hot air balloon with a rusty nail
Looking over your shoulder and setting sail
Your dreams will become part of the future and coincide with the past
You spend all your time by the radio waiting for the signal
But inside, you’ll always feel the same, even when you wake up
Even if you wake up
In a town where everyone will kick and scream
And come to the same conclusion every time
Time to realise you were never on the team
There was always a question hanging over you
In a hot air balloon with a rusty nail
Looking over your shoulder and setting sail
They drive the same road drifting over to your side
They drive the same road turn the lights on again
They sail the same strait turn the lights on again
You’ve been up on the roof again
And you’re biding your time but it’s all right they’re coming any week now
Left behind by the mothership, they’re our only real friends
And inside, you’ll always feel the same, even when you wake up
Even if you wake up
And come to the same conclusion every time
Time to realise you were never on the team
There was always a question hanging over you
In a hot air balloon with a rusty nail
Looking over your shoulder and setting sail
You spend all your time by the radio waiting for the signal
But inside, you’ll always feel the same, even when you wake up
Even if you wake up
And come to the same conclusion every time
Time to realise you were never on the team
There was always a question hanging over you
In a hot air balloon with a rusty nail
Looking over your shoulder and setting sail
They drive the same road turn the lights on again
They sail the same strait turn the lights on again

It's about the British historian Harold T. Wilkins, satirizing his fascination with flying saucers.

"You've been packing your bags for the tenth time You've been up on the roof again And you're biding your time but it's all right; they're coming any week now Left behind by the mothership; they're our only real friends"
Saying that he's been packing his bags, and waiting on the roof for the mothership to come take him away.
"In a town where everyone will kick and scream And come to the same conclusion every time Time to realize you were never on the team"
Refers to the fact that he is regarded as crazy by the rest of the population, and that he never played on the "sane" team.
Woa, SongMeanings ate both a part of the title as well as the apostrophes.
Ah well - it's still a good track.
The more I listen to it, the more I think it is about a gay man who is trying to come out of the closet. "You were never on the team",,, "Same conclusion"...... "Hot air balloon with a rusty nail".... Maybe he fell in love with someone but realized that deeeep down he wasn't being true to his sexuality. I think this guy should come out and live life openly! Like Ricky Martin!
I adore this band! And this song!
