Between Sheets Lyrics
You and me between sheets
It just doesn't get better than this
The many windswept yellow stickies of mind
Are the molten emotional frontline
I couldn't care less
I'm transfixed in this absolute bliss
The sweet sleepless tumbling night
Ooh and the morning on your skin and laughter light
Tracing patterns in the maze of your back
Softly softly the goosebumps like that
And then a kiss
Again again
And another one
It just doesn't get better than this
The many windswept yellow stickies of mind
Are the molten emotional frontline
I'm transfixed in this absolute bliss
Ooh and the morning on your skin and laughter light
Tracing patterns in the maze of your back
Softly softly the goosebumps like that
And another one

Anyone else think this song eerily echos The Shins' song "Kissing the Lipless"
Yes, apart from the rhythm, melody, lyrics, chords, and instrumentation all being different. But they do both contain the word 'sheets'.

There's similarities, yes. But this appears to be a very loving song.
Imogen said the only time she stopped thinking about her album was 'the morning after' if you catch my drift. She said placed it right in the middle of the album to highlight the moment of calm. I always thought it was about sex when you're in love, but Imogen's version is about sex with anyone. It's open to interpretation. Either way it's incredibly sweet.
Some of these lyrics are wrong. From the CD booklet:
Are the molten emotional frontline should be Or the molten, emotional frontline
Ooh and the morning on your skin and laughter light should be Ooh and the morning on your skin, a loved up light (I thought she was saying laughter lines at first)
Again again should be Mmm, mabye another (minor, but it has to be said)
Thanks.
Imogen's rest area, if this were a game ;)
But yes, just that time just after sex and perhaps before sleep... Well no, unless you've been going at it all night (It's that "morning" line that throws it off...) But in my head it's that^ tiny window of bliss. I imagine the morning after would feel a little less "omgWOW" unless you two really like each other.
What really made that impression on me is the final few notes and vocalizations. The song is fairly clearly about exercising sexuality, but not in the frivolous methods critiqued in that Shins song.
Truly a difficult song to decipher :) He's having sex with someone and likes it. Same ol' same ol'. I need to get offline to breathe....
