I Ain't Hiding Lyrics

Rust on my pickups,
And blood on the stage.
Seeds in the ashtray,
And coke on a blade.
N-Y-C delivers, that's a guarantee,
The only thing that keep the day from me.

Line at the bathroom,
Line at the bar,
Take it outside,
Do the rest in the car.
Hot candy baby's in a bright light fright,
Rock and roll rat race, everybody's uptight, that's right.

Ain't your saint, ain't your enemy,
I'm a long shadow on the highway.
I know this ain't how it's supposed to be,
Baby, I ain't hiding.

Stayed on the dance floor cause you can't find the door.
Can't run out cause there's always more,
Keep on rocking cause it's not even four,
Turn up the bass until your ears get sore.

Ain't your saint, ain't your enemy,
I'm a long shadow on the highway.
I know this ain't how it's supposed to be,
Baby, I ain't hiding!

Ain't your saint, ain't your enemy,
I'm a long shadow on the highway.
I know this ain't how it's supposed to be,
Baby, I ain't hiding!

I agree! Fortunately, it's only a few days from now.

I believe this song is a kinda ballsy soundtrack for a party scene where the drug use, namely lines of cocaine, is running rampant as the party-goers are getting more shameless & more distant from the dangers of it - hence the "I ain't hiding."

BaW, WaWaWaWaW ... BaW, WaWaWaWaWaWaWaW

I agree with both ejc and PinsNeedles. "Funk" and "party" are 2 words that come to mind while listening to this tune. The song is about New York City party life, perhaps a tribute to the late 1970s and Studio 54.

When I first heard this song on the radio I loved it, but I had no idea who it was. When I found out it's by the Black Crowes, I was shocked. This song is so different from the southern-rock sound the Black Crowes have become known for. And I hope the haters keep their mouths shut, and enjoy this song for what it is (funky and retro), and what it's not (the modern southern-rock-blues sound the Crowes helped pioneer, and bands like the Kings of Leon have began to imitate, and progress).

The rest of the album "Before The Frost" is nothing like this song. So props to the Crowes for trying something different for this tune, I think they pulled it off very well. I think this song has the '70s written all over it, like David Bowie re-imagined or something.
