So Long Lyrics
You've made me into someone
Who should not hold a loaded gun
And now you sit upon my chest
Knock out my wind, knock out my best
And so long to no disasters and mornings too
And so long to ever afters, so long to you
I am soft for only you
Impale me with your tongue, it's true
And slices of me piled sky high
The same old me to the naked eye
But I can't find myself tonight
And so long to no disasters and mornings too
And so long to ever afters, so long to you
And so long to no disasters and mornings too
And so long to ever afters, so long to you
Who should not hold a loaded gun
And now you sit upon my chest
Knock out my wind, knock out my best
And so long to ever afters, so long to you
Impale me with your tongue, it's true
And slices of me piled sky high
The same old me to the naked eye
But I can't find myself tonight
And so long to ever afters, so long to you
And so long to ever afters, so long to you

I think she is singing about breaking up with her boyfriend. No more disaster ( i think that means no fights) and there is no more ever after. He "sits on her chest", you know how it hurts when you break up with someone you love very much. it feels like you can't breathe
I really do feel like this song is about being really really attached to someone who is leaving you. Having come to rely on the person to keep things under control, their departure is devastating.
And so long to no disasters and mornings too And so long to ever afters, so long to you
When they leave, you'll be saying goodbye to "no disasters" which is confusing in a double negative kind of way, but saying goodbye to the absence of disasters. and mornings... the light. So long to happy endings.
I don't know, it's pretty morbid. I completely relate to it though.
absolutely amazing !
I think it's about an emotionally abusive relationship. He's emotionally abused her to the point where she shouldn't hold a loaded gun, either because people in that situation have trouble controlling their anger or because they can experience suicidal thoughts. He's sitting on her chest, keeping her from breathing properly, essentially controlling her life and taking away her best. Then he impales her with his tongue, which sounds like verbal abuse. Then she looks the same to the naked eye, but inside she's sliced into pieces because he's torn her down and broken her.
In the chorus, "So long to no disasters" seems to mean she will never NOT be a disaster. From her perspective, her life is always going to be a disaster, a mess, because her self esteem has been shot and she has major trust and intimacy issues. "So long to ever afters" is her saying she won't have a happy ever after, all of her dreams of the perfect romance and life have been shattered. "And mornings too" could be a reference to new beginnings, starting fresh, and how she won't have that chance anymore because of how much he's affected her with his abuse. Then again it could also be the light thing sagehayley said.
Anyway, that's just my take on the song, but it really does sound exactly like the way an emotionally abused person feels.
