Yep, i believe its about a relationship and the girl in this case still really likes the guy, but hes telling her its over sort of thing and that there just friends now, but she says she 'wont do what you told me', saying shes not gunna give up on him or the relationship just yet, 'i say you lose when you give up what you love'..

I think this song is about a couple, the girl has make some mistakes and hurt the guy, unintentionally. She wants to fix it and he tells her to forget they ever met. But she can't stop thinking about him and comes to the conclusion that she's not going to be able to get over him.
It's when a guy tells you "let's just be friends", and how hard it is to accept that when you're still in love with him.
I can totally relate to this song.
Oh, and it's suppossed to say "You lose when you give up what you love" not "you lose when you love, what you love"
To me...this song is about this guy and girl...who apparently use to be good friends...at some point they became more than friends and turned into lovers for a while...the guy must have only want to be friends for fear that he's not right for her or simply because he's afraid...he tells the girl just friends...but she doesn't want to start over at being friends....she wants to be friends and lovers and she's not going to listen to what he has said.

I just heard this song on pandora for the frist time and, not gunna lie, it totally made me cry. It reminded me so much of me and my most recent boyfriend. we were really good friends then fell in love then just recently he tells me he doesn't know what he wants and that i deserve better than to be with him while he figures that out so he broke up with me. However, he still wants to be friends, talk, and hangout all the time. I just can't do that right now cuz i know i'm still in love with him. Totally related to this song. loved it.
