Velvet Lyrics
Watch her inhabitions falling to the floor. Notice how you lock the door
What would you love to do?
Here in this hotel room together and alone I want you to put on a show.
What would you love to do? What would you love to say? What would you love?
Princess I just wanna witness. Watch you severing that velvet
I won't say the word- say the word
Watch you in the mirror. The way you touch yourself
your hips to your fingertips. What would you love to do?
Don't be so impatient. Don't lose self control
I'll make the rules up as we go.
What would you love to do? What would you love to say? What would you love?
Princess I just wanna witness. Watch you severing that velvet
I won't say the word- say the word.
Princess I just wanna witness. Watch you slip right out of that dress.
I won't say the word- say the word.
I won't say the word- say the word.

the word he wont say is masterbate that is what he means by severing your velvet
I am assuming he is so filled with lust of this girl. The girl is probably tease or merely to eagar but in the end , he wants her out the dress. I won't say the word it the only thing i don't understand. I think it my be a sexual term.?
I think the song is about them "doing it". They're getting more and more into it, losing control ("watch he inhibitions fall to the floor) as his "lust" as BellaXsaur said, is building and she strips her velvet dress, most likely. The "word" may likely be sex, because they don't want admit what's happening.
this song is all about sex. duh. hurrah for breathe carolina! however apparently there's debate as to what this "word" is he's talking about. personally i think it could be one of two things: A) love. he's clearly all about the sex here, refusing to let this girl believe he could possibly feel any emotions for her other than lust. so he's not going to lie to her and utter the l-word that she probably wants to hear. B) a safe word of some sort. he's quite controlling with this girl, telling her to put on a show for him, to take off her clothes and let him watch her do all the work. also velvet restraints could be used for some bondage type scenario, which would require use of a safe word. and since he's clearly into banging this girl, he's saying he'd never say the safe word, thus never asking her to stop doing what she's doing. honestly i think it could be both.
also something about this song just makes me feel like it's really dirty. like he's either using a girl who is absolutely in love with him, or he's paying some girl for sex. mostly i think it's the first option.
I think michaelc52 is pretty much right. The songs has hints of it everywhere.

"I just wanna witness." i.e. not taking action/becoming invovled; which is not having intercourse

"Watch you severing that velvet" Uh, yeah, pretty self-explanatory

i agree i think hes being controling. and i think "the word" is sex, because like what robotswearplaid said they dont (or HE doesnt) want to admit whats happening. but for the "severing the velvet" part i got a different meaning. when i first heard this song i thought that by "severing the velvet" it was the girl losing her virginity. because she seems unsure of what shes doing, and hes controling everything and telling/showing her what to do "dont be so impatient. dont lose self control. ill make the rules up as we go"
Here's my idea:
"Watch her inhibitions falling to the floor." To inhibit means to control and refrain from showing; of emotions, desires, impulses, or behavior. So she is showing that she want's to do something with him, without hiding her emotions/desires/impulses etc.
"Notice how you lock the door" This just suggests that what she wants to do is sexual. She doesn't wanna be walked in on. She didn't forget to lock the doors. xD
"Here in this hotel room together and alone I want you to put on a show" So they are locked in a hotel room, together and alone. He wants her to "put on a show" or entertain him Do the math. He's teasing her so he can have sex with her. ;D
"What would you love to do? What would you love to say? What would you love?" He knows what she wants already. She wants to have sex with him. He just wants to hear it from her. He wants to watch her show that she wants it.
"Princess I just wanna witness. Watch you severing that velvet" He want's to watch her "sever the velvet," which, assume from the last line, "Watch you slip right out of that dress," is a velvet dress he wants her to sever, or take off.
"I won't say the word- say the word" I believe the word is sex. He doesn't wanna say that he (or she) wants to have sex. He want's to watch, or witness, her removing her velvet dress and having sex with him, rather than jumping to the conclusion that they will have sex in the hotel room together, because she locked the door. He's trying to keep her inhibitions up, teasing her, and pulling her in to still wanting to have sex with him.
"Watch you in the mirror. The way you touch yourself. Your hips to your fingertips." This is her, putting on the show for him. Showing what she wants, without saying the word. Sex.
I hope this helps clear some things up, and if this isn't true, helps spark new ideas as to what this song means.
dude stop thinkiing about what the guy wants. it basically about a stupid girl who wiling to serve her virgin to him. and the word he won't say is i love you. the guy is actually mocking her and watching her as she try to surduce him. which is why he said i want you put on a show, because he meant by i want to see you make yourself look bad. So basically the song is about how girls are soo stupid that they are willing to give up their virgin to a man who he is not ready to say he love her.
or it could mean a girl who is willing to diad for the guy. thw word he wont said is died for me. When he said what do you want to say, he mean any last word before you died. and when he said what do you love to do, he mean by do you really want to died for me. and when he said he what do you love, he mean do you really love me enough to died for me or isnt worth dying for since you have other (family) that you also love. " i want you put on a show" mean i want to see you if you can do it. "seeing you in a mirror touching yourself" mean the guy saw the girl look at herself at the mirror having doubt if she should died for her love. "Priness, i want you to be my waitness serving me your velvet" he mean he saw her doubting and got upset and said to her be my girl who is willing to died for me so give me your "royal" blood (velvet)meaning come show me how much you love by killing yourself. So basically it about how love can be take serious measure.
