Goodbye L.A. Lyrics
Goodbye L.A.
Goodbye L.A.
I never thought I'd be the one here waiting
I never saw the signs
California in the rearview mirror this time
Everybody's got their own good reasons
And I've yet to see mine
Swimming circles around the same old story you find
Goodbye L.A.
Summertime sun came a little too late
Goodbye L.A.
Roll the windows down as we drift away
I never thought I'd be the one here running
I'm stuck between the lines
Every story's got the same old twist when you find
Goodbye L.A.
Summertime sun came a little too late
Goodbye L.A.
Roll the windows down as we drift away
Come on and drift away, alright
In time, you'll find
That everything's different but it feels the same
In time, you'll find
Your heart's not ready just to walk away
Goodbye L.A.
Goodbye L.A.
Goodbye L.A.
Goodbye L.A.
Summertime sun came a little too late
Goodbye L.A.
Roll the windows down as we drift away
Oh, come on and drift away, alright
(Goodbye L.A.)
And we all just drift away
(Goodbye L.A.)
All just drift away, all just drift away
(Goodbye L.A.)
Oh, oh, alright, and we all just drift away
(Goodbye L.A.)
Hey hey, all just drift away, all just drift away
(Goodbye L.A...)
All just drift away, all just drift...
Goodbye L.A.
I never saw the signs
California in the rearview mirror this time

Josh said at a concert that this song is about wrecking their van... When I heard that I just about laughed! It's a really great song though, one of my favorites by GRO
I actually got the chance to talk to Jamey about this song. He told me it was insprired by an incident on their tour with Collective Soul. The band was traveling to Los Angeles in their van and pulling a trailer. Jamey was driving and the rest of the band was asleep because it was late at night/early morning, he said around 3 am. They got to a hotel that they planned to stay at and found out that it had no vacancy. Jamey backed up into a yellow pole and totalled the van (he thinks because the trailer smashed into it). They ended up having to rent a van, but were stuck in LA for a week and had to cancel some shows on the tour. The song was created because they were sick of being in LA and wanted to go home. source: personal interview with Jamey 4-28-11.
