The Thanks I Get Lyrics
If the lies don't touch you, the truth will
If I can't love you, then who will?
When your friends are jumping ship
When your crown begins to slip
And loyalty's not a virtue
Who are you gonna turn to?
When you've seemed to have lost your grip
And the road begins to rip
I held your hand
Is this the thanks I get?
I took you in
Is this the thanks I get?
Half a chance, the thanks I get
A twist of plans,
Is this the thanks I get?
If the lies don't touch you, the truth will
If I can't love you, then who will?
When you're coming off your chip
When your ego takes a dip
I held your hand
Is this the thanks I get?
I took you in
Is this the thanks I get?
Half a chance, the thanks I get
A twist of plans,
Is this the thanks I get?
The days hurt
The night lurk
The light burns
My eyes hurt
The dark eyes
My heart cries
It all hurts
I loved you
I loved you
I begged you
I hate you
I hate you
I miss you
I miss you
The thanks I get
Is this the thanks I get?
If I can't love you, then who will?
When your friends are jumping ship
When your crown begins to slip
Who are you gonna turn to?
When you've seemed to have lost your grip
And the road begins to rip
Is this the thanks I get?
I took you in
Is this the thanks I get?
Half a chance, the thanks I get
A twist of plans,
Is this the thanks I get?
If I can't love you, then who will?
When you're coming off your chip
When your ego takes a dip
Is this the thanks I get?
I took you in
Is this the thanks I get?
Half a chance, the thanks I get
A twist of plans,
Is this the thanks I get?
The night lurk
The light burns
My eyes hurt
The dark eyes
My heart cries
It all hurts
I loved you
I begged you
I hate you
I hate you
I miss you
I miss you

I think it's about someone who has a significant lover that ended the relationship and the person is feeling abandoned after all the things they did for that other person was all a waste. Beautiful song, love the ending!
Decent song. I like Mr. Erik Hassle.
Just to get some ideas flowing: Cliche, but I'm thinking that the song is about a person dealing with an exlover that, for lack of a better word, abandoned them after helping through a tough time in their life. Perhaps this exlover has gotten involved with fair-weather or less than dependable friends in some way. This exlover has themselves up on their own pedastle (be it social standings or their own self worth) and believes that they deserve better than our writer. The writer is expressing the emotions that are confused and numerous and vary from love to hate.
Anyway. I'm not that deep of a person and that's just a guess, mind you. :) Good song. Lyrics all look correct.
