We Won't Run Lyrics
Pages turning,
lights are burning,
see what you could not see.
As plain as the day,
the night makes you pay,
for what was hidden underneath.
Longing to leave,
but begging to feel,
that something will make you stay.
You gotta believe,
that this all leads,
to somewhere we've never been.
We won't run,
we can fight,
all that keeps us up at night.
There is far,
to go now,
let's not waste a minute more,
in denial.
But I always thought,
you knew yourself,
better than anyone.
But the season was lost,
when you started listening,
to everyone else.
Cast in this devil,
I've got the metal,
the means to make things right.
Tired of guilt,
tired of being sorry,
haven't we suffered enough?
We won't run,
we can fight,
all that keeps us up at night.
There is far, x2
to go now,
let's not waste a minute more.
But oh,
that our eyes, x4
will be open.
We won't run,
we can fight,
all that keeps us up at night.
There is far,
to go now,
let's not waste a minute more.
We won't fear,
we can fight,
all that we can bring to light.
There is far,
to go now,
let's not waste a minute more.
We won't run,
we can fight,
all that keeps us up at night.
There is far,
to go now,
let's not waste a minute more.
Of our lives,
our lives, x2
our lives.

Absolutely love this song.
The x2 and x4's pertain to the whole paragraph they're in. It made more sense the way I formatted it but it didn't come out the same way.
Also, the film clip is the best thing I've ever seen besides Christopher Walken dancing in an office building.
Such a pretty song.
This song is incredible. The film clip too is awesome, I can't believe how they could have done that in one take, its just perfect.
I think this is just a description of the journey that every relationship is and the resilience of some. There is some extraordinary depth to this song but sadly don't think I'm seeing it at the moment.
Really good songs can have multiple meanings that can be personal BUT
In my opinion this song is mainly about we as a people/planet/race finally standing up and opening up our eyes to what is really going on all around us.
“We won’t run, we can fight, all that keeps us up at night”
I think this is about how our subconscious minds are plainly seeing what is all around us. By this I mean the very negative behavior, images, and so on...whether they are in a magazine, on TV , or happening on the street we are walking down. This can mean anything from fiction to images of war that we see far too often. Many of us don’t pay attention to all this, we are blinded, distracted, or sadly desensitized. So, in turn, you might have nightmares or thoughts that keep you up at night because your brain has in fact taken all that in whether you were aware of it or not.
This goes in line with my theory on the song because all of what we see and hear tells us that we are not good enough, pretty enough, and so on. It tears us down so that we buy into whatever it is they are selling (marketing) or tears us down so they can feel better about themselves (non-marketing). This can also mean that you don’t act or speak up because you have succumbed to what everyone else is saying.
I think this is saying we are the ones are responsible so don’t play the blame game. Each one of us has the power to change and start making better choices and stand up to the injustices we see and hear. If you do that, you will not have to feel guilty or sorry because you know you did the right thing.
This is pretty much self explanatory. When we realize everything that is happening all around us and we open our eyes, we can bring all this into light. Drag the dirty human laundry out into the open, so to speak, and start to change ourselves. Like the lyrics say:
I think it may be about a relationship between two people who have been quite and quietly in love with on another over a long period of time, perhaps years. It may also be that one had been involved with someone else, I gather from their feeling guilty.
I feel like it's such a beautifully honest moment for her, in which she has decided to stop telling herself she could be as happy with anyone else, or keep up the pretense doesn't have this affection for him. The lyrics give the sense of a long involvement hinted at so quickly, and the music video, by contrast, is the slow unfocused pan out, revealing her standing foremost against the backdrop of an eye as she repeats "oh that our eyes would be open" insisting they not "waste a minute more".
