Magic Mountainman Lyrics

My two weeks on the eastern hillside
Washed the grime away
The other fifty layered on
And I will sleep under constellations
Double stars of information
Coyotes singing- howls away
But it's a lost connection
So this time I'll never leave

Gonna stay on Ellis Mountain
Count the pine trees
Nail and hammer- I have home
Overtime, unforgiven
Pipe fitting it's not living
Let the city have it all

With my hands
I've built epic structures
With my hands- my hands
Promise lands suffocate in steel and mortar
With my hands- my hands
'Cause it's a lost connection
So this time I'll never leave

The speaker is a Pipefitter working in the city building high rises. His time spent on the hillside reminds him of a lost connection to nature and to life. "Pipe fittings not living." He commits himself to maintaining the connection and building a home in the woods.

I came across this band looking into the roots of the 90s Seattle music scene. This song resonated deeply withe me but I couldn't make any words out. When I read the lyrics it was obvious. I'm a union electrician who builds "epic structures" in the cities. I've been longing to get back to nature. Mountains like I grew up in. It speaks to the lives we waste pursuing materialism. Thank you to the band.

The city is getting to much with it's 'steel and mortar' so he's gone to spend some time at 'Ellis Mountain' to 'wash the grime away'.

Great track, a real toe tapper.
