Guising Lyrics
The words spilled out my cloudy head
You were eloquent and elegant instead
When I took you into the game
You hadn't been before so I had to explain
And then on halloween
Faces painted white and guising the streets
A pair of ghosts from door to door
All the trees were bare, the leaves had left a floor
for us.
You were eloquent and elegant instead
When I took you into the game
You hadn't been before so I had to explain
Faces painted white and guising the streets
A pair of ghosts from door to door
All the trees were bare, the leaves had left a floor
for us.

One of the most beautifully simple songs I've ever heard.
"The words spilled out my cloudy head You were eloquent and elegant instead"
"When I took you into the game You hadn't been before so I had to explain"
I feel like the next lines are rather unrelated but still about this relationship. the couple are watching all the goings on in the Halloween night but making love ("the leaves had left a floor for us").
I always think this song is an beautiful and innocent piece full of nostalgia about a childhood feelings between a boy and a girl.
The words spilled out my cloudy head You were eloquent and elegant instead When I took you into the game You hadn't been before so I had to explain
The boy has some feeling for the girl but he was awkward and didn't know how to express it. The girl was very good at talking and expressing and the boy aspires her more because of this. I take the following two sentences literary. They're playing together happily.
And then on halloween Faces painted white and guising the streets A pair of ghosts from door to door All the trees were bare, the leaves had left a floor for us.
This stanza is about how on halloween the boy and the girl wearing costumes going trick or treat together. The last sentence is just beautiful.
