Say Please Lyrics
Everyone grows old on the gold coast
it takes a lot of hope to grieve
Everyone gets dark and the worst part
Is the way those thoughts can please you
Personality like a split screen
See yourself down on your knees
Hold out your hand, darling
Say please
Everyone gives up down on hard luck
On hope aint enough it seems
Everyone gets lost in their own fog
Have to wonder on with lantern dreams
Say please, please
Just say something
Speak up, please
If its what youre looking for
Hold out your hand, darling
Say please
it takes a lot of hope to grieve
Everyone gets dark and the worst part
Is the way those thoughts can please you
Personality like a split screen
See yourself down on your knees
Say please
On hope aint enough it seems
Everyone gets lost in their own fog
Have to wonder on with lantern dreams
Say please, please
Just say something
Speak up, please
If its what youre looking for
Say please

It's so beautiful. I love when they get together <3 This tour/album will be so epic.
not giving up, keep going, helping, la la la.
conor oberst just isn't stopping is he! so excited for this.
Beautiful :)
I am so excited to see them here on the 21st! Gah damn.
This is not Conor singing is it?
They switch throughout, M. ward sings the first 2 lines of the verse, conor the second and jim james the third, they all sing the chorus and switch at saying say please

Right.. So Conor only get a few songs like The Mystic Valley Band? I really don't like their music, but this song is growing on me.
I just sorted through a number of reviews/articles on this song and they all say that Oberst and M.Ward are the main vocals throughout the song. I was surprised to hear M. Ward was even a lead vocal because I thought I mostly heard Oberst the whole song.
Yeah they sound sorta similar sometimes but it's definitely the two of them singing at different points
It's definitely M. Ward and Conor on lead (M. Ward starts off), and it's not Yim Yames, it's Jim James from My Morning Jacket, who it hate but supringly love in this band (except His Master's Voice - only song I'm not a fan of)
"and it's not Yim Yames, it's Jim James from My Morning Jacket" followed by "who it hate but supringly love in this band"

I think you meant I instead of it and surprisingly rather than supringly.

Sorry I couldn't help this.

I am basing this on listening and not on any other source, but it seems clear to me that it is M. Ward singing lead in the first two lines, Conor Oberst in the third and fourth lines, and Jim James in the fifth and sixth lines of each verse.

Yim Yames = Jim James, haha
Yim Yames = Jim James, haha
ok ok to set this straight already.. its Ward who sings first.. Conor ..James .. chorus..Ward and Conor again.. done!! btw no one said anything about the meaning of the song lol.. its really hard to think on this one.. great lyrics tho.. song i think is mainly about people being misguided or doing something wrong.. and just try to solve ther problems by speaking up.. ' saying please'.. eh best i can come up with lol
I think that it is about simply asking for what you want. Ask and ye shall receive. Sometimes we just have to step out of our own way!
