This song and "love of an orchestra" are my favorites. I've realized that it's not terrible I don't have a boyfriend, and never have. I just don't care anymore, I've got great friends. So I mostly identify with the beginning of the song, but he goes on to talk about how he still longs for that one person regardless.
God forbid you ever go thru a break up but if you do you will just connect with this album on a whole other level! I'm going thru one right now and I know I "need her light in my life" but I just know it wont work anymore. He even says he will change who is to get her back and I totally get that, its the hardest thing in the world....

I think it's "I need you light in my life" rather than "life in my life" makes more sense I think and it's what it sounds like to me...
